As a Korean American who grew up in the Chicago suburbs, it’s been exciting to see Glenview transform into a cultural hub for all things Korean!

My family and I have our weekend routine of driving down to Glenview to get our asian grocery essentials and then stopping by one of the Korean restaurants for dinner on the way home. One of our usuals was Pro Samgyupsal just down the street from Joong Boo Market @joongboomarket In the past few years, so many more of my favorites have moved into that area - ▫️Paris Baguette @Paris Baguette US ▫️Kung Fu Tea @Kung Fu Tea ▫️Bonchon @Bonchon ▫️So Gong Dong Tofu ▫️Kong Dog ▫️336 bbq ▫️New Village Pocha @New Village 새마을포차 ▫️the Kangnam @The_Kangnam_KoreanPub … to name a few! 🤩 I think its safe to consider anything along route 21 (Milwaukee ave) part of the new north suburban k-town.

Now when friends visit Chicago and I bring them to these same places, it’s like showing them a piece of my childhood. It warms my heart to be able to share my Korean American experiences here with them! 🇰🇷🇺🇸 ✅ Save this video for later! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Follow @mynameisjoolia for more Korean spots in Chicagoland —— #korean #koreanamerican #glenview #ktown #koreatown #chicago #chicagosuburbs #wheretoeat Chicago ktown koreatown where to eat Korean food in Chicago suburbs Korean restaurants where to get Korean grocery store groceries Asian #kbbq #porkbelly #samgyupsal

Meat okay, complimentary kimchi is a plus, waitress service okay, cold noodle worst I've eaten, did not even finish. Both me and my friend think the meat portion and overall experience did not meet the expectation of $80 price, so gave a more realistic tip to the actual workload instead of a percentage from total price (as we think it's not worth it).

Then another waiter who did not serve us chased us out, questioning why we gave a "horrible" tip. We explained we didn't had a satisfactory meal here. Then he said cuisine quality is unrelated to service tip and finally left "if you can't afford, then just don't come". I was quite shocked by this and did not feel well along my way home and days after . First time ever I've "educated" by an arrogant waiter about how and how much to tip.

So I had two plates of meat totalled $60, a $14 tastless cold noodle which had nothing inside, we cooked meat ourselves, so you mean passing 3 plates from kitchen to my table worths $14 tip when I didn't find it satisfying?

I browsed history reviews and found other people complaining this FOLLOW-YOU-OUT rude waiter, then I decide to move my 3-star review to 2-star. He serves just for his tip, he is not happy from inside serving people, don't give a f about you are customer or not. Horrible waiter uneducated about basic etiquettes, pitiful. Amazed to see, better prepared myself for dealing with less kind people in future.

During an interview, you think you performed well so the company must give you an offer? If you did not receive offer then you curse the interviewer "if you can't afford hiring me, then just don't post the job?". Maybe the waiter job is the lifetime career apex for him so that's why he's treating it seriously. He is so idle that he have the free time to chase us out because the restaurant had few people to serve.

There are a lot of good Korean restaurants that I'm willing to give 20% tip. Except this waiter the waitress and manager are good though, but there is no exemption that having a negative coworker around will impact...

The service in this restaurant is horrible. One of their server can not control his temper and even tread at us, just because we didn't follow his protocol to grill the food. Initially, we placed an order for pork belly and beef short ribs. We began by grilling the pork belly and, after finishing it, decided to order more pork belly. While we were grilling the beef, one server brought the second order of pork belly to our table. To our surprise, he hurriedly removed the beef from the grill and insisted that we should prioritize the pork belly. This was confusing because we were never informed of a specific grilling order. Despite this, we chose to continue grilling the beef since it was almost done. The same server, however, noticed this and became irate with us. In an aggressive tone, he confronted us, saying, "YOU THINK IT'S FUNNY?" and extinguished the grill flames. This unexpected and hostile reaction left us all shocked and apprehensive. Shortly thereafter, the server returned, replaced the grill plate in a rude manner, and carelessly placed all the food, whether raw or cooked, onto it. Furthermore, he threatened us, stating, "If you cannot follow the simple rules, I have no choice but to charge you a 20% tip." I have never encountered such an unprofessional and uncomfortable situation at a restaurant simply because we didn't follow a server's preferred protocol. If the restaurant has specific guidelines for grilling food, it would be more appropriate to clearly display them on the menu or on the wall. In this restaurant, there is nothing to tell us that it has any specific rules. Customers visit a restaurant primarily for the food, not to be subjected to server...

I changed my stars 4 to 2 due to changes in recent years. I will start with con over pro just because soley of my disappointment.

Their quality of meat has changed. Ever since they don't provide good quality un-frozen meat, their quality went good to so so to worst. Sometime meat feels like rubber and it has that pork smell if you know what I mean. Even beef brisket was tough last time(July 2021) I was there for my B-day with friends. This is really sad fact because this place isn't a buffet like Iron Age. I just went to Iron Age and o boy.... buffet had better meat quality over all. Unless of course if you aren't going to order just 2 person portion you will get more out of buffet.

Un-friendly staffs or should I say less friendly staff. They seems heavily under-staffed. Very first impression, tired employees do not welcome customers that much. I feel this aren't their fault. There are only 2 or 3 on floor and they are super busy. I get sorry feeling calling for them to add orders sometime. They look like they need additional help time to time.

Pro

Their side dishes are much better in terms of quality and number. Also, additional dishes like cold noodle they offer are plus over other place.

Overall, I used to take my foreign friends to here, but now I take them to Iron Age for numerous reasons. I'm not here to talk about Iron Age here so use their reviews for better information. I hope they change(improve) their quality or I would see in near future, they will lose lot of customers because yes, we talk about their quality. They are busy right now(wait line), but comparing the past, line...
