I'm sorry to have to do this but I am a longtime resident of Northbrook and have been coming to this location since it opened. Not one to complain but I have no choice as the amount of rudeness and level of disrespect was just beyond. I came in here to study during finals week and decided to order a drink (after a bit of an unecessary wait) and grab a table, hoping to finish up one of my many papers. I didn't want to freeload on the wifi so I decided to order a small drink and when I asked what type of milk goes in the drink bc i am lactose intolerant the barista rolled her eyes at me and made me feel as if i was being difficult. Rude. I decided to overlook that and go sit down. I turn on my computer and try to jump on the wifi. Could not see the starbucks wifi on the list and i have not studied in a starbucks in a long time so i decided to go back up to the counter to politely ask what the password for the wifi was. Another girl employee who was not there earlier looked at me as if i was an idiot and told me (very disdainfully while holding back her laughter) that there was no password. I checked on my phone and thats when I saw the open starbucks wifi and told her (still politely) that i found it and thanked her for helping me. On top of that, I clearly told the girl taking my order almond milk, she ignored me and put oat milk, then I’m fairly certain she went ahead and put in the normal 2% because my stomach started hurting about halfway into the drink. Beyond rude and unprofessional and quite frankly… a bit evil to do that deliberately don’t you think. I understand there may be some annoying customers with their custom orders but that’s what a barista does and it is part of their job and a tbh it’s a part of life training as well..
I do not know if this is an issue with the generation gap or the management not conducting proper customer service training, but I have worked in hospitality and customer service for 20+ years, as well as managed staff at restaurants and bars and if i ever saw any of my staff treating a customer this way this would NOT be ok. On top of that, they spent the entire time working discussing topics and saying things (extremely loudly) that should not be discussed in front of customers. I am thoroughly appalled at the behavior of the girl employees at this location. And since I am here taking my time to write this review, I will mention that every time I have gone through the drive through the attitude has been dismal as well. This is a customer facing role and as a customer I was nothing but respectful and kind and polite with my interactions. Clearly management is either hiring the wrong kind of people, or not training their staff properly nor holding them accountable for their behavior. I used to come here at least 4-5 times a week and now I will definitely be avoiding this location like the plague that it is. I honestly expected better from this Starbucks location but maybe that's on me for expecting higher standards and basic human decency and treatment from a...
Read moreI have to admit, the negative reviews are spot on. I just went there about 15 minutes ago for coffee and it's the worst Starbucks I've ever been to. I don't know if the employees hate their job, hate each other, or both. They forgot to make a sandwich for the guy behind me and got my coffee order wrong. I didn't hear a single "I'm sorry about that." I also didn't hear a single "Good Morning," or "Thank you," except from me and the other customers! The employees didn't even bother to look at people as they handed out orders. I couldn't wait to get online and find a better place to spend my money. There is another Starbucks a little further away, but I'll be giving that one a try tomorrow! Don't waste your money at this one. I'm just glad my coffee wasn't as bitter as the employees!
--Quick update. I found that there was another Starbucks on Cherry Lane just a couple of miles down. Completely different experience! Friendly people, they seemed to work well together and not hate each other or the customers! Amazing! Go spend your...
Read moreI was a supervisor at Starbucks for several years, so I understand how hectic the holidays can be especially when taking into account drive through times. I happily waited in the drive through line for 20 minutes to pick up a friends mobile order on 12/10/22. When I got to the window, they told me they’d lost the drink for the order (2 items) and the girl on bar 1 came up to the window and said “since you don’t know the name you have to come inside, we have a line.” Girl, I know there’s a line I’ve been sitting in it. I did know the name on the order, and it was surely not my fault they’d misplaced the ticket. Annoying, but whatever, it happens. I came inside and they ignored me for another 10 minutes before the guy on bar 2 made me a new drink. He was very nice! I know it’s busy, but try to help a girl out instead of immediately dismissing me maybe? Seems like first world problems in retrospect, but a little kindness...
