If you're looking for an even healthier option to Currito, this might be your venue. Sweet green appears as a no-compromises salad restaurant that most people think is meant for specific dietary options, but is like any other healthier options restaurant with an added "er". Healthier..er.
Maybe salads aren't your thing, and Sweet green gets that. Working in the West loop with Mezza Grill, you find so many office workers looking to stay in shape, it's refreshing to know that the northern Chicagoland area gets their healthy phase. Service is fast-paced here as your food gets scooped in. Their queue system could use a little work.
I had their limited Chicken & Chipotle mix with Wild rice, black beans, cherry tomatoes, Onions, a sweet, acidic, and mild chili sauce, and a slice of bread with a rosemary focaccia. I found that the meal wasn't particularly filling, but the addition of focaccia gets the job done without stressing the belt. Their rosemary Focaccia was pillowy and had a dense aroma...
Read more*edit to add. I went back to see if anything changed. It did not. The salmon was no more than 2 ounces. I get seafood delivered in 4 ounce servings. This was half that. I am adding a photo. You decide if this dish is worth 17.00. I placed my hand over on pic to give you an idea of scale. Oh, they don't take pictures? Thats convenient. I'm a 5'3" woman. Third time there now. Its okay. But expensive. Not a lot of food. I wish I had taken a picture. I got the salmon bowl. And the salmon was dry as a bone. You get about one and a half small scoops of rice with these tiny scoops of pickled onion and cucumber. They should offer a brown rice or farro option. Instead of white rice which is not healthy and a wild rice mix that looks and tastes like out of a pouch or uncle bens box. They should add a green to the bowl...
Read moreOrder: Late night app order. Modified Garden Cobb (extra egg, blackened chicken, chickpeas, remove blue cheese) + crispy onions (delicious, but questionable on this salad)
Food: Delicious. Leafy greens were crisp and green, the sweet potatoes were tasty, and the chicken was of good texture and taste. Presentation was excellent.
Service: Late night means I didn't get to see service in full swing, but the employees seemed nice, and did a good job making the food. I thanked an employee for doing a good job on my salad, because I was really looking forward to it, generally. No issues here, to my knowledge.
Atmosphere: I generally dislike the interior design of Sweetgreen locations, and this was that. All indoor seating also runs parallel to the ordering line, greatly restricting privacy. There is outdoor seating, though, for those who would...
