i arrived here after getting dinner with two of my friends to study. we arrived at approx. 8:30 pm and set our things down at a table and went to the counter to order our drinks. there wasnt an emplyee in sight but we figured that they were possibly in the back or cleaning the bathrooms or something reasonable. we were wrong. after about 3 minutes of talking, laughing and being particularly loud we began to look around to look for any sign of an employee. one of the friends that i was with peered over the counter to find that an employee was sitting crouched in the counter space, fiddling with her phone looking bored out of her mind(pictured) . now, im not the type of person to write a bad review or try to get anyone in trouble, but what happened next was absolutely unreasonable. we attempted to get her attention but she was too fixated on her phone, and wasnt listening enough to notice that she had three eager customers growing increasingly impatient. we began a time clock on my phone to see just how long we would be ignored as customers. I ended the time clock at approx 26 minutes, 30 minutes after we had arrived and initially tried to get an employees attention. a group of rowdy college students (probably only about a year or two older than my friends and I) walked in and she coincidently emerged from the counter as they arrived and said, 'funny seeing you guys here!' and made them their drinks. it was obvious they knew eachother and they left soon after. the same friend that had stood up there with me, decided she was still going to get a drink. she ordered an iced chai tea latte. now, im no barista but i know enough about drink making to know that the chai mix should be blended with the milk, instead of the chai being sunk to the bottom with a sea of milk hocering above(pictured). thats just not my kind of drink.

Goodbye Blue Monday Coffee House is a wonderful place to meet with friends and family. Not too shabby just going by yourself either. The college crowd love it. The coffee options are many and very tasty. Tea options are also available. They serve some bakery goods which are always excellent. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is unique and needs to be experienced. There are many comfortable places to sit and small tables to work on. In the summer you can sit outside in the sunshine and experience small town Northfield first hand. Get a coffee or tea to go and walk a little bit down the block to Bridge Square to catch a concert in the summer as the Cannon River flows by.

My partner and I are both Carleton albums, and I haven't been back to Northfield in DECADES. Spent many an afternoon in Blue Mondays back on the day connecting with friends and taking derive from the cold outside. It was genuinely an emotional experience to be back there and see much of the same artwork and decor! I'm told the current owner is also a Carl--thanks for preserving the welcoming, inclusive vibe! Coffee is as great as it was 20+ years ago, friendly staff, everything I remembered the place to be, except it doesn't smell like cigarette smoke anymore of course 😸😸

I absolutely loved my experience at Goodbye Blue Monday Coffeehouse! I have been there multiple times and each time I come in I am blown away with the atmosphere. It's definitely a place to go to want some peace and quiet, to read or just anything that needs to get done that you've been putting off. There's something about this atmosphere that just helps you want to get stuff done. The friendliness of the person who was working that day made me feel extremely happy and that I chose right to go to this particular small and cozy cafe. The decor was beautiful and unique and really added to the relaxing atmosphere. The music playing in the background was so calming and really enhanced my visit. I was pleasantly surprised by the fair prices for both the food and coffee. The wonderful woman working there even offered me different options to try, which I really appreciated. Overall, I had a fantastic time at Goodbye Blue Monday and will definitely be...

Gotta love Blue Monday. The furniture hasn't changed since it opened, it's eclectic, comfortable, bright and grungy too. If you can get a place to sit (usually, but there are really busy times), it's a great place to study or get some work done or visit. The convenience of keeping a coffee card on file (my 10 year old to go get himself a hot cocoa on his own card) is awesome - and the chai lattes and cocoa are favorites. The best of Blue Monday however is the conversations you will overhear. Small and sometimes hard to ignore, it's totally entertaining since you never know what kind of conversation will be going on here. Once, my son was given a pony by a patron telling a friend hers needed a new home and my son volunteering. 6 years later, we still have the pony. And many more excellent visits. This place is a unique, local, fun...
