The Rare Pair is an important retailer in downtown Northfield on Division Street. It is a focal point for downtown. The success of this store likely encouraged others to open other fine shops on historic Division Street. The exterior of this corner brick building is iconic in Northfield. They have done a beautiful job with this building, preserving the exterior and making a great retail space inside. The brick walls, exposed old ceiling. and warm wood floors help make this an inviting space. They have a fine selection of clothing, shoes and other items. I found a great sweater to purchase. The two current owners are very cordial to visitors and customers. They were very patient answering questions about their store. My father gets a gift card for my mom at this place EVERY year. I personally think they are pretty pricey for it being a locally owned shop. I still like it though. I had an interaction was a very nice lady who was extremely helpful with getting me that gift card for my mom. She was smiling at me and asking me questions about the weather. Just making some small talk. It was pretty busy and she seemed to start to get overwhelmed. But she was still very kind toward me. The whole interaction took maybe less than 3 minutes to go in and get out. Plus those shoes really do last for a good 4-5 years before they start looking dirty and gross! I recently purchased sneakers from here and the associates were so friendly and helpful. We had to work out a pricing issue and they handled it quickly-- I much appreciated it since I am a college student who was leaving to go home over the summer and was on a time crunch.
