There's a sign in the entryway that says "DO NO WASTE OUR FOOD! If you are wasteful, we will charge you and extra 25%!" Way to insult your customers as soon as they come in the door, guys!!! That needs to be taken down immediately, its inappropriate for a BUFFET of all places to say that. I couldn't get that sign out of my head the entire time I was there, and it colored my perception of the place entirely.
The food was fair, not excellent but worth the price of a buffet. It could have been a bit hotter, considering all the meats they have there on the buffet. The salmon was especially good, and the sweet and sour chicken was a bit rubbery. Medium marks there, I suppose.
The service (as far as waitresses went) was nonexistent. They brought me a glass of ice water and I didn't see an employee again until I was out the check out desk paying for my meal. So, can't complain but I have nothing to go on.
The decor and cleanliness of the place was PRESTINE. I know guys in the navy that are not this clean in their personal space. Very, very high marks for cleanliness in the dining room and around the buffet! They take good care of the place!
EDIT: Also, it struck me as odd that none of the foods on the buffet are labeled. Considering its foriegn food, isn't that a standard thing you should have? I'm not complaining, it's just strange...
Update (5/24/15): I don't know what the heck happened to this place. Now its filthy, the seating is cracked and gross, and the waitress seating people was ON HER CELL PHONE. Any other resturaunt would fire your stupid ass for something like that! If this were not the ONLY Chinese place within a 30-mile radius, I would never eat there again! If any company, ANY company, decided to open an oriental place in Northfield this place would be gone within a year, I...
Read moreAfter years of eating here, I can provide an honest review that provides multiple occasions on the food, customer service and overall feel about the restaurant. My family prides ourselves on our own cooking and experience with Chinese food. We use to own a chinese restaurant in Woodbury and my dad learned how to cook in California back in the 80's /90's. This place will not be the best place for Chinese in MN but they are the best we have in Northfield. Their cooking style is still a typical Americanize Chinese with a better flare than most places hiring out cooks that do not have experience with cooking chinese food. It's family ran and they are definitely from Chinese or Asian decent. The food is great if you know which cuisines to order that are fail proof. Hot and spicy chicken is the most amazing thing on the menu and has such a flavorful sauce that is not used in any of their other foods. My family will stick with steamed pot stickers, Lo mein, or Mai fun. They do have really good bbq pork that is used in there fried rice and Lo mein and so forth. We choose to use this place a few times a month and we are never disappointed. The family is very nice but I can tell it's a business and it's hard on them when it's busy so never take anything personal from them on customer service. They try real hard to get out food cooked and ready. You should definitely eat here and support our...
Read moreWe decided to come here on a Sunday afternoon. We walked in, and the place was almost empty. Staff seemed very kind. Place was clean and so were the dishes. Sunday is all day dinner. When we got to the Buffett, everything was clean. Plenty of dishes. The food was warm not cold nor hot. Some of the food like the rice and chicken were hard to chew due to not being swapped out. The egg rice tasted the same as the white rice. Good little variety of dishes. Good small little dessert area. Never tried the dessert due to being too full but looked good. Place looked modern and up kept. One thing that upset me the most, is that the host was not working at all, she was doing school work. Could’ve been mixing up the food and such. I understand but in a work setting, my boss would’ve said I had to work in order to be paid. Was cute seeing a little girl putting the dishes away, but the parents were just lounging in the back talking. For eating at 3pm on a Sunday for both of us it was $30.00 which makes no sense, when there signs say its $9.00 a person Tues-Sat for lunch and $12.00 a person Tues-Sat for dinner. Sign said dinner all day Sunday. Making each of our plates $15? Was good for quick food, but would probably...
