I love Pho so this experience was really a bummer. I was only offered a table after I ordered at the front counter vs the standard greeting followed by "will you be dining in or take out"....something like that. After I was seated the waiter/owner interrupted me saying I would like something additional from the menu, so I didn't order anything additional which was a good thing. Please know that I was the third table occupied in the restaurant of about 20 tables. They have a nice large TV in the section behind the front counter so I moved to be closer to a program airing. It was about 8 minutes, pretty quick for my vegetable pho to arrive. At this point all of the customers at other tables had left, so I was the only customer in the restaurant. The waiter/owner refused to bring the food to the new table I had chosen. I explained that I was more comfortable in the new table near the TV. She scolded me for taking up a table of 4 instead of a table for 1. I explained that the restaurant is empty so I thought it wouldn't be too much of an issue. She persisted with her position. I just stopped talking and waited for her to do what made sense and she eventually did. I sat in my new table with my warm pho. I wish that were the end. The pho had an odd taste and the tofu was not fresh, tasted old. The vegetables seemed fresh but the broth was just not good, and the growing sound of conversation behind me between the family/staff was getting uncomfortable. Long story short, I began to get a stomach ache and decided to leave. I told the waiter/owner that the service was very poor and the food was not good. I explained that it gave me a bit of achy stomach. I paid full price for my meal. The waiter/owner suggested it was from what I had this morning. ???? Incidently, this was the first meal of my day, so nope it was not from something I had this morning. This was clearly a family operation and frankly I hope they read this review and study how they can provide better service and better...
Read moreI came here with my mom because it was the closest pho restaurant and wanted to try a new restaurant. Came here because my mom wanted some pho got there around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. I’m not sure who the lady was but she was so rude. My mom asked a question about one of the pho’s and this lady straight up told my mom to look at the menu why didn’t she read the menu and kept pointing at the item aggressively. My mom was so taken back by her reaction so she just said sorry and didn’t say anything else. If you’re working in the food industry no matter what the question is it’s your JOB to answer it. Don’t be straight up rude especially to paying customers. I’ve been working in the food industry for 3 years so I understand restaurant workers but this was just unacceptable. If you’re tired or not wanting to work don’t take it out on paying customers. After that encounter we put in our order but as I kept sitting there I got more and more upset by the second, by how we were treated, so we got up and left. There was 2 other people sitting at another table and she was being so kind to them and smiling and laughing, but when it came to us she was so rude. NEVER will I spend MY money here and I hope you guys don’t. They’re a bunch of other BETTER and TASTY pho restaurants. Looking at the reviews it seems we dodged a bullet because of how nasty the restaurant is. Saigon Basil will forever be the best pho restaurant and never had a problem or rude experience, I definitely recommend going there...
Read moreMy lady and I used to come to this place ALL THE TIME. When I say we used to come all the time, I meant 1-2 times a week! The people were good, atmosphere was nice and the food was pleasant. However, things seemed to have dwindled. We have started ordering their boba, and at first it was nice, but now, it seems that if we don’t buy pho, the service just to get boba is subpar. It’s as if it’s an inconvenience to sell boba over pho, which is confusing, especially since we are long time customers AND it’s on their menu. The past few times we have tried to order they dismiss us with “we are too busy”, or it’s “too late” (7pm ish, while they close at 9pm). Definitely not the same vibe as it used to be, and that’s unfortunate. I do enjoy the fact that the owner himself works here daily and the customer service when you sit and dine is good, just disappointed with the takeout service when it comes to things other than...
