I’m gonna have to give a second review and of course withdraw 5 stars because the difference between my first and my last visit is a lot. We’ve been here 3 times, the first was amazing and we loved it, second time was not the best but it was not bad either and all business have flaws and we really didn’t care too much about it. Unfortunately yesterday on a Sunday when normally people would be a little bit more chill our experience didn’t go quite well. We arrived (we were celebrating our wedding anniversary btw) and the hostess was really nice and rapidly gave us a seat in the back area of the restaurant, we got some water and after that we waited for our waiter for about 5-6 min or even more. We order a bruschetta as an appetizer, a cup of wine and bottle of Pellegrino water, he just took the order very fast and left (we had questions about the bottles of sparkling wine but he really seemed like he was on a hurry so we decided to wait) he came back with the water, some extra cups and my cup of wine and we were ready to order our food but it looked like he wasn’t so we had to wait for maybe another 10 min to order our meal. When Mr. Jason (I think that was his name, he was a guy with grey hair) came back to finally give us the honor to take our order, my husband asked him what kind of meat the lasagna had (my husband doesn’t eat pork) to what Jason in a very mean way responded that it was ground beef but we could obviously felt he was really annoyed by the question, so after that we didn’t even try to ask for any bottles of wine. 5 min later he came back to ask if beside the bruschetta we wanted another entrance, which confused me a little bit and I answered “no thank you, just the bruschetta!” And he said, “okay then no appetizer” and I was like uh?? And then he told me “unfortunately we don’t have more bruschetta” so I order another appetizer instead. To make it clear although our server was very petty and rude we always said thank you and we really tried to be kind to him and this review is not to put anybody in trouble but I think there’s really room for improvement. We understand that everyone can have a bad day and sometimes we’re not in the mood and it’s hard (I have been a server too) but I really think he was a little bit extra.
After he brought the food, we ate and we didn’t even try to ask about anything else, we were terrified! at that point and with my anniversary being “celebrated” all I wanted to do was running away from there because I was totally uncomfortable.
We didn’t expect anything exceptional for our celebration beside good food and a nice service but the fact that the server was impolite, mean and rude most of the time was definitely way low our expectations, to have the nerve to come to our table after 20min to let us know that our appetizer was not available with the attitude he had was really poorly satisfactory. As I said I know we all have bad days but I don’t think it’s fair for your customers to have a bad experience for a personal issue. I doubt I’m coming back, at least not soon but of course I hope that people coming to visit this business can have a memorable experience like the one we had the first time and don’t get to experience my last one. I also want to add that we’re extremely good tippers so don’t even think the bad service was based on poor gratification, we’re always happy to tip and we did leave a good tip although we would have liked to tip someone that would have given us a better service. I hope that this review can find the manager of the establishment and they can help their servers to improve the customers service.
This place is just DIVINE! We found it while walking around downtown Northville. The ambiance is sophisticated and really charming. The service is absolutely nice, we felt very welcomed since the time we walked in to the very end of our dinner. The food is amazing and although we didn’t try any wine this time I did noticed they had a very good selection and variety. Definitely from now on this will be one of our very...
Read moreONE REALLY BAD JENNIFER (the unhappy server) and you just might find yourself in the middle of a shocking "Tarantino" plot twist. Here we were on Tuesday, narrowing our Friday 5:30 dinner plans (the finalists were Table 5 and this place). Having not been to either place, we were looking forward to a great experience. We arrived at 5:28. A sparse crowd (only a table of four in the rear dining area) where we were seated. That was a concern because it might be indicative of larger problems.
We ordered drinks and what was their version of a Caprese appetizer (not on the menu). As we finished the app and were decompressing from what was a typical deadline driven work week, we ordered entrees (delivered quickly). As many diners who enjoy a good experience, we typically don't inhale our food. Not finished with dinner, and BJ (BAD JENNIFER) places the dessert menu on the table and says "we have a two hour time limit, and you're getting close." Wait what? We ask for containers to take our entrees with us, she's returned in record time with the Styrofoam (gag), and asks us if we want dessert. I respond by telling her that apparently we won't have enough time to eat dessert (as we were dangerously close to the time limit which neither of us knew about and didn't want to get a citation). She then decides she's going to make an example of us by raising her voice 40 decibels and saying loudly "WE HAVE A TWO HOUR TIME LIMIT, THERE ARE SIGNS EVERYWHERE!" From our position we could see other patrons "side-eyeing" this shocking display. It was as if she dropped a severed hand right on our table! I tried very hard to rationalize a zero tip, as this was over the top unacceptable, but instead shrunk my standard 22% to 15. BJ, or better yet owner Frank, should consider moving BJ to a non customer facing position, or just out. Quite clearly she's not happy. She is the face of Tirami Su, and it's an ugly one.
As for the 2 hour limit? As we left, we did see bright pink letter size notes on the door, which were not on display when we arrived. The table of four was still in place when we left. As far as we know, we weren't ticketed for slow eating, but we've decided that the next time we attend a "Tarantino movie-like" dining experience in Northville, we'll choose a different fast food restaurant than Tirami Su (the chicken added to the "alla Gusto" pasta was in the form of compressed chunks)....so perhaps McDonalds. In the end for us, we weren't looking for, nor expecting an Applebee's type experience, but that is exactly what...
Read morePicked this place on a whim. We're not very classy folk, but we sure know when a good meal's been had and me lord we sure did had a good meal.
They served us 2 types of bread. Idk what the diamond shaped bread was but it was prime time.
The calamari is great. The breading has a very lemony flavor to it so it doesn't need to be dipped. It was nice and crisp. When dipped, the marinara pairs well and mutes the citrus flavor a bit so it's a different experience. No rubbery bits at all, prepared great, and was delivered to our table ridiculously fast.
Filet mignon was fantastic. The sauce (maybe peppercorn sauce? Idk) and mushrooms really took it to the next level. No notable seasonings on the vegetables (even salt and pepper, which was unexpected) but they were cooked great.
Lasagna is delicious. Just the right amount of sauce.
We got 2 desserts. The Tirami Su and the Pro(something something). Top and bottom one off the menus. The prorelogli? Is my guess of what it was called, was like a little eclair cream puff.
If you think for a second you ain't got room for dessert you are lying to yourself. Both of these options were like eating a cloud. They're so airy, but bursting with flavor as soon as you put it in your mouth. The beautiful medly will bring a tear to your eye and make you hear flutes while your body skips across a nice paved path through a field of flowers. So good. It felt like I was eating negative calories, like it actually made more room in my stomach. Phenomenal.
Wonderful staff, great atmosphere. Will definitely be back sometime. Thanks for ruining other food for me for...
