I honestly love their food, I've been going there for years, but the lady who works there answering the phones amd taking down the orders just gets ruder and ruder with every experience. Backstory, I love their mongolian beef, but it always comes as a bowl of onioms amd scallions and like 6 little pieces of beef. I started ordering it no scallions hoping that would help, and it still always came as a bowl of onions and next to no beef. I'm sorry but it's called mongolian beef not mongolian onions. So tonight I place my order and asked for no onions or scallions, the lady got dnippy and starts arguing with me saying they can't do that, it's not a no veggie option meal. Ok well no scallions and less onions more beef then. She kept getting an attitude with me saying they can't do that. How can you not do something like that to make a loyal customer happy with what they're eating? She kept saying it's because of the way the sauce is made. Sorry but the sauce is premade so all they have to do it cook it over whatever the dish is, I've worked in the food industry, things like that is why chinese food places only take "10 minutes" to make. She continued to argue saying they've never even made it without scallions, so then how is it i got it like that every time i ordered it? It's all about profit, less beef means less cost to make and more profit. They'd rather let a customer choke down a bowl of undercooked onions and have the audacity to be rude and argue with the customers to save a few pennies rather than make the dish better to make a customer happy. The lady that works there has no business dealing with customers with the way her attitude is. Just because of her I'm more than likely not going back to my favorite chinese food place because she makes every experience...
Read moreI love Chinese food. If I cant choose anything else to eat, Chinese is what I go for. However, while I believe that there are many great Chinese restaurants throughout Norwalk - having been to every possible one of them - I am beginning to learn that good Chinese food doesn't always come with good service. And in cases, where neither is offered, it only makes matters worst. Many of these restaurants have a culture of pushing for tips rather than tendering properly to their customers. Not long ago, I had a very bad experience with Rice King. I have been here before and I received good service the first time. But, I realize that they that the service there can be just as bad as the food. The sad news is, I received a plate that was half cooked. Chewing through it, almost caused me to break my tooth, in addition to a wrenching pain from my cheek bones. I realized that the food wasn't properly cooked. I went back to the store to advise the clerk about it and she showed no concern, just a stern face with a sharp attitude, more prepared to create an argument than to utter a simple apology. I had to leave the store, feeling more remorseful that I had shop there in the first place. It put a bad taste in my mouth, but I still believe that some Chinese chefs can be the best cooks and the most respectful people. It was a just a bad experience and I have decided not to go...
Read moreI grew up in the buildings right next door. I still remember when Rice King first opened over here. My mom and I would make it a regular lazy night treat, and there food still takes me back to the happiest days of my life. My mom ended up in a nursing home while I was still young, she was there for the rest of her life and she ordered from rice king all the time. They would bring the food straight to her room. They delivered for her no matter how small her order and they knew her well and made her feel special. They get busy, you can't expect it to be all smiles and extra talkative service. That's pretty difficult when cooking such a large selection of foods for pretty big volumes of clients. But you can expect hot and yummy meals that stay consistent and...
