2 stars because the ice cream is good. But here's what happened when I went to get food too: pulled in & looked at the menu. Staff came up to take our order and it took a while because we were ordering for a family of 4. Staff gave us the ice cream first which was melting fast (gave us no napkins either). After paying I saw the staff member go up to the truck behind us & say something. The truck then left without getting anything & gave us a look. Pulled up to the window & waited. Another car behind us decided to leave (I think after ordering). We got our food & the coney dog was smashed yet on the very top of the items in the bag. The "bacon double cheese burger" apparently only gets 1 slice of cheese (I guess we can thank the Mcdouble for screwing up the meaning of a double cheeseburger?). Everything else was fine. In summary, I think the staff doesn't like to deal with actual meals. Snacks and ice cream are what they want to do. Otherwise you're slowing down business I guess? They didn't even look at me when handing me the bag of food. If you don't like making the food, just be an ice cream place. If we ever go back, and that's a big IF, we'll only get Ice cream. Sorry for ordering food Vargos. I learned my lesson from the staff & dirty looks from people leaving because it took too long. You win, no more...

Darlings, let me regale you with a tale of saccharine serendipity, of an establishment so resplendent in its offerings that one might mistake it for a mirage in the vast tundra of pedestrian desserts. Vargos in Norwalk, Ohio—nay, a sanctuary of frozen divinity—has bewitched my discerning palate with its celestial confections.
The pièce de résistance? An orange vanilla twist soft serve so ambrosial, so rapturously silken, that I momentarily lost all sense of time and space. Imagine, if you will, a waltz of citrus-kissed nostalgia entwined with the dulcet embrace of vanilla—each swirl a crescendo of pure, unadulterated bliss. The texture? A cloud spun from the dreams of angels. The flavor? A sonnet composed by the very muses of indulgence themselves.
And let us not neglect the ambiance! A charming tableau of small-town enchantment, where one may revel in the simple joys of dairy-based euphoria. The service? As warm and welcoming as a cashmere wrap on a crisp autumn eve.
To deprive oneself of this experience would be, quite frankly, a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions. So do run, do frolic, do gallivant to Vargos posthaste. Your taste buds shall compose sonnets...
Read moreVargo's is an institution in town and has always had the very best soft serve around. I can remember looking forward to summer as a kid and for when the stand would finally be ready to open. Thankfully, it opens much earlier in the season now than it did in the 90s...or maybe it just feels that way. 😉
The lines can get pretty long, but they move pretty quickly thanks to a great service team. I am a chocolate & vanilla twist devotee, but the flurries are wicked good, too. If you're not in the mood for ice cream, the drive-in fare is also really solid - from the cheeseburgers to the sauerkraut balls. It's all well worth the wait.
If you happen to be in the neighborhood and are looking for a cool treat,...
