My husband and I hosted our wedding reception (of about 150 people) at Crooked Can, and we could not have had a better experience! We worked closely with Jenny Sampley, who handles their events, and Stacy St. Julian, one of the owners leading up to the event. They were always prompt to answer my emails, helpful with any questions I had, and incredibly flexible. In general, the flexibility that the Crooked Can allows is one of our favorite things about it. Not only were they able to cater to a variety of party sizes, we were able custom select our drink menu and choose from any of the vendorsâ catering menus, and the Crooked Can staff took care of getting everything served and plated the day of our event. While our event was more of an informal open house, we would have also been able to have a more traditional reception feel with a dance floor, mics for speeches, and formal seating plan if we had wanted to. We covered the bar tab for our guests, but the staff was also able to do separate checks if we had asked and could have even done a combination, with us covering a certain dollar amount and then switching to separate checks after that.
The day of the event, we were blown away with the how helpful and kind the entire Crooked Can staff was. Everyone seemed genuinely excited to support our event. Our bar staff, Mason, Kollin, and Sam deserve a special shout out. They definitely went above and beyond to make sure that we and all of our guests were taken care of. Whenever I went to the bar, they gave me recommendations for my next drink, asked if they could get me anything else, and made sure I was having a good time. So many of our guests complimented us on how amazing they were and how invested they seemed in making sure the party was going smoothly. I could honestly go on and on about every other detail that blew me away from event and experience leading up to it, but Iâll just leave it at this: they have converted us into loyal customers for life! THANK YOU, Crooked Can for blowing our expectations out of the water and giving us the wedding reception...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped in here after our other friend's funeral calling hours. We had been in there a couple weeks ago with THAT person so we figured we would go to cheers to his life. We ordered drinks to take to the patio. The woman working the bar grabbed a glass for my NA beer and I said it was ok, I didn't need one. She gave me a dirty look and said it HAD to go in a glass. I told her that was weird because when I was there a couple weeks before, I had my beer in a can (and in my koozie). She stopped what she was doing, looked dead at me like I was a cockroach, then turned to my friend and said, 'What do YOU want to drink?' with zero additional acknowledgement to me or my question. We were going to keep our tabs open but after that there wasn't a chance I would give them/her another dollar... including a tip. This is maybe the 3rd time I left no tip at an establishment, which is unfortunate for her because I tip between 30 and 40% when I'm just drinking. I can honestly say I am not sure I would go back, but I would bet my house that she wouldn't care either way about...
Read moreGot pizza at the nearball meatball mafia, ate at the bar and got a few beers.
I got the watermelon gose, horchata stout and tried the peanut butter stout.
The gose was fantastic. Its a watermelon, cilantro and salt mix flavor - clean, sweet, sour and hoppy. I can't find something comparable, but the watermelon flavor sings with the salt and hops.
The white stout was the lightest stout I've ever tried and at under 6%, a low abv. The taste, however, was also top tier. They really nail the descriptions - this is a fantastic winter beer.
The pb stout I tried is very strong in peanut smell and flavor but very much tastes like you're straight up drinking a buckeye.
I highly recommend this place. Unfortunately the building doesn't let you bring in outside food, but the pizza was alright and the drinks were beautiful.
They sell little pre-made cocktails in bottles that you can either drink...
