Wilson's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Norwich Township

I hope this place gets better… I do see potential. The staff is friendly and warm. Drinks are priced a bit below most other bars. $9 Old Fashioned (decent pour)

Walking in around 5pm on a Friday evening. We were greeted warmly by the owner and at our request we were seated on the patio. No wait. Inside looked 50% full with other early crowders. A waitress came to our table for drink/app orders and we placed an order for Nachos with just cheese and beef. My girls do not do jalapeños. Drinks came out quick and (a different staff member) brought out the nachos soon after. Jalapeños all over them. This staff member was super nice about it and said it was no problem, she would take it back and get the order corrected. No problem.

Our regular waitress returned to take our meal orders:

Picky Daughter 1. Half Order Of Wings (no sauce) BBQ Sauce on the side & a side of ranch. She hates sloppy wings and likes to dip. She’s the girl of a thousand dips.

Picky Daughter 2. She’s just eating the nachos.

After a bit of a long wait the Nachos arrived sans jalapeños. (Stone cold) Cold cheese, cold meat sauce, cold chips. Like colder than the air temp. Noticeably cold. My “picky daughter 2” was ok with it and we made a pretty good dent in them. The fork in my soup, Barb is this, they are barely better than the beef and cheese nachos you get at the Hilliard City Pool and those are bad even for pool food. It might be Hormel beef sauce out of a can, not sure. I think if they had been hot they would have had that, “food so terrible it’s like a vice that feels good to indulge in once in a while” vibe.

Regular waitress returns with our other food and I ordered a second drink. Drinks were Johnny on the spot. Absolutely no qualms there. Bar tender and waitress were well oiled machinery on that front.

Wings came covered in BBQ sauce and we never saw the side of ranch. I told “Picky daughter 1” to fight through the anxiety and be one with the sticky. She did, and she enjoyed the wings. I took one for my dad tax and it was pretty decent but again they were cold.

Wife was not impressed with the chicken Philly. The chicken, she said, was like the flat pressed fajita style chicken that you’d get on a cold salad. She ate 1/4 of it and we also were not super impressed with the fries.

My Deckhand was good. The bun was really good and very fresh. Just two smashed patties, cheese and sauce. But again, cold. The meat was definitely cooked through and had that nice crispy texture but the sandwich over all was lukewarm.

I wonder if their menu is just too big? Are they trying to give too many options? Is the kitchen staff struggling to keep up? Is the food sitting and waiting without a heat lamp while other items come out?

We cashed out and I tipped 20% (staff was excellent) which put us at $75 all in. That’s not bad for 3 meals, an app, 3 adult drinks and a sprite. Their pricing would be great if the food had been better. The patio furniture is literally falling apart. Someone will fall right through one of those faux wicker seats out there. As we left there were people waiting to be sat. Maybe the kitchen wasn’t quite up to full speed for us early birds?

Hopefully they can fix the kitchen issues. If they do I’ll give it another shot.

TLDR: Food was cold and not exactly as we ordered it but the drinks were cheaper than expected, well made and came out fast! ...

Manager and server did a good job but owner has no clue how to handle a food/service issue. Wings were way too breaded and they measured by weight. I received 4 drum and 2 of the tiniest wings ever! I ordered buffalo garlic wings yet no taste of buffalo in my wings and left a crazy amount of bread in my basket. Very little meat. WINGS NOT WORTH THE PURCHASE. Owner came out butt hurt that I had the nerve to complain. All I wanted was equal distribution of wings to drums but he was too offended that I complained to attempt to make the customer satisfied. Unfortunately I won’t recommend Wilson’s because ownership isn’t customer...

I ordered some food for carry out. When I arrived I was quickly met by a friendly young lady. She directed me to another very pleasant young lady who rang me up. The burgers and onion rings were tasty and filling. The burger toppings were plentiful enough and fresh. When have you ever heard of the name Wilson being associated with something bad? Wilson sports equipment, Wilson on the Home Improvement TV show, Woodrow Wilson are examples of winners. Wilson’s Bar and Grill is no exception....
