Wife and I both had beef kebabs. They were excellent. Place was pretty busy on a Sunday mid-afternoon, which is understandable given the quality of the food. Friendly service and reasonable prices too.
I first learned of this place while searching online for a place in the Chicago area that served Turkish Kebabs/Gyros as they have evolved in Germany (if you've had one, you know why). I was stationed near Frankfurt in the early 1990s and ate more than a few, often late night after an evening on the town. Somewhere I read that Baltic's kebabs were similar. While I agree that there are some similarities (and, in any event, they are excellent), it's not quite the same style. For example, the bread in Germany is more like a heavy, bready pita. Here, they use a thin, fried to the point of slightly crunchy, pocket bread, which is delicious, just not the same.
In any event, I will definitely be back. Can't wait to try the goulash...
Read moreTotally agree with previous reviews. Their food used to be delicious. Chicken kebab used to be the best thing I have ever had. However, I have no idea what have changed but I got it the other day, and literally the best thing in this kebab was bread! Chicken doesn't tasted right, it seemed like they removed it from soup and just fried it with no seasoning, no salt or pepper. I gave it to try to two of my friends, and they said the same thing. Never again. Money wasted. I would give one star, but kebab used to be really good just a couple of months ago, so I am giving this place two stars. You guys should improve the quality of your food if you want to...
Read moreI have dined at Baltic several times, and each and every time the food has simply been splendid! It is fresh, prepared from real ingredients and tastes like a home-made Polish food. My favorite item on the menu is hunters’ stew (bigos), which for me (and I am Polish) has been the best bigos I have ever had! Recently I also started ordering the cod dish, and it has wowed me. Not to mention the beet soup (barszcz), which has the perfect balance of the sweet and the sour. The staff is attentive to dietary restrictions, and has always accommodated my food allergies, which I am really grateful for. If you are craving Polish quality food - Baltic is a must...
