I ended up at Nami for dinner tonight after disappointingly showing up to Umami Sushi only to find it boarded up and under construction due to a recent fire. Needless to say, I quickly forgot about this disappointment at Nami.
To start, they atmosphere was relaxed, but nice. I was quickly seated - they weren't busy for a Wednesday night at dinner time.
I was starving, and I knew exactly what I wanted after looking at their menu so I didn't wait to order. I LOVE a good seaweed salad (not the kind that has a hidden bed of lettuce or cucumbers under it sacrificing the amount of seaweed), raw salmon and raw scallops. So naturally, I ordered the seaweed salad ($5), spicy salmon crunch roll ($7), and the spicy scallop roll ($7). For the rolls, I asked them to keep the rice light. I'd rather be filled up on raw fish than sushi rice.
WOW. First off, the seaweed salad was a hearty portion and delicious. Yes, there were sliced cucumbers under the massage pile of seaweed, but I was okay with that. Secondly, usually when I ask for light rice I can barely notice the difference, which I've chalked up to a language barrier...I was proven wrong today. There is such a thing as light rice. Not only did they nail that, but the raw fish was incredible, and arguably the best raw sushi fish I've had for the price point (my whole dinner cost $22, not including tip). Both had a buttery texture and taste, and the combination of avocado only made the creaminess of the roll more enjoyable.
To top it off, I was in and out of there within a half hour. For someone who was on business travel, and had many things to do after dinner, I was pretty satisfied with the service and food all around. I will be returning to this sushi restaurant. After this experience, I would definitely considering trying some of the other things on...
Read moreWe ordered vegetable gyoza to start with. It was okay. Nothing exceptional. We also ordered a Makimono plate of sushi. We got Namasake Avocado which is salmon with avocado. They have a spicy mayo and chili sauce which they bring you for $1 extra. I would 100% recommend the spicy mayo sauce with the sushi and the Gyoza's. The chili sauce is just regular sriracha sauce. The salmon with avocado (called Namasake Avocado on the menu) was very good. I would recommend it. Each of us ordered a kitchen entree which comes with Miso Soup, Ginger Salad, and the entree. I got the Seafood Teriyaki which comes with scallops, shrimp, salmon, squid rings, vegetables, and white rice ($20). Great portion. The other entree was a Salmon Teriyaki which comes with Miso soup, ginger salad, vegetables, salmon, and rice ($18). Also a great option. My only complaints with the food is that it tasted more like oyster sauce than teriyaki but I loved the addition of sesame seeds. That ginger salad was also AMAZING! The atmosphere was nice. No loud music so you can actually have a conversation. They had faint Christmas music playing in the background. There are 3 TV's inside. At one point we asked them to change the channel to the basketball game which he so very kindly did. Its also BYOB. It seems like most people go to the convenience store( which is 2 doors down) and get wine to pair with their meal. Needless to say we were entirely too full for dessert. Our server Augusto, seemed like the only server on the floor but he was very attentive and service was excellent. If you're going to go on a Friday for dinner, my recommendation would be to go early because it...
Read moreWent here yesterday and want to go back already!!! I used to have a go-to sushi place but with COVID-19, they didn't have dine-in, so I thought I'd go dine-in at Nami Sushi to try it out for the first time.
Our food came out quickly, I didn't notice much of a wait. My boyfriend ordered the dragon roll and Godzilla roll and I ordered the salmon deluxe and white tuna with cucumber. The sushi was so fresh and delicious. The salmon deluxe (salmon, cream cheese, avocado and lemon) it was absolutely perfect, the smallest lemon slice on top made the sushi so refreshing and the flavors together worked so well.
Our waiter checked in with us when we had a few bites of our appetizer and I expressed that the chicken on the kabbob was dry (I had it set aside and was about to start eating my sushi). He was nice and asked me if I'd like some other appetizer instead, because he would not charge me for the appetizer I didn't like. So I ordered the spring roll appetizer. When it came out it was clearly a fresh batch, and still hot. The outside of the spring rolls made the bites crunchy (yumm) and the sauce they gave with it was so good I could drink it out of the bowl...not sure if it was sweet and sour sauce but it definitely only tasted sweet. Our waiter would also check in with us after we started eating our sushi and refill our water.
The environment seemed quiet, chill and popular music played in the restaurant. I would definitely come back here. Also, their green tea ice cream is so tasty. If you're hesitent, just try it once and you won't regret it like me and my bf...
