Went here for an early dinner Friday, only 2 other tables were there. I’ve heard good things about the food. 2 adults and one child, we ordered Gnocchi, Eggplant Parmesan and a small cheese pizza for our kid. When our food was coming out, they gave us the eggplant parm and the gnocchi and left without saying anything about the pizza. 5 minutes go by and still no pizza. I was giving my child some of my own pasta while we waited so she had at least something to eat. 5 more minutes go by and still no pizza. Meanwhile a table that came in 15 mins after us had a small cheese pizza delivered to their table. I managed a restaurant for 10 years and am very observant. Made no sense for a table that came in 15 min after us to get their pizza before us especially when the rest of the food came out a long time ago. No one was coming to check on us or tell us anything. I finally walked up to the counter where our server was and asked about the pizza, she said it’s just taking a little longer than expected but should be out shortly. I knew that was a lie and that they gave our pizza to the wrong table but let it go in the hopes that the pizza would be out in a minute or 2 and my kid could finally eat. Nope. 5-7 more minutes go by and now I’m just plane mad. We waved the waitress over and asked again about the pizza and she’s finally admitted that the pizza was given to the wrong table and they were in process of making a new one for us, all the while smiling like it’s not a big deal to completely screw up and not even try to rectify the situation. It was a basic, you got caught so confess scenario which I find absolutely unacceptable. We were obviously done with our food at this point so we just said we don’t want the pizza and just wanted to pay the check and leave. When she brought the check she offered a dessert on them but at the point it was to...
Read moreNestled in a small strip of stores and businesses that are partially obscured by the adjacent Portillo's, DiMaggio is authentic, small Italian grace and cuisine. If you were able to dine at a small Italian eatery/bar in another part of the world, this is very, very close. Bakery goods on one side, bar, and superb pastas, chicken, sub sandwiches and a place where nobody will scoot you out. They do catering (it's very good).
We like it for lunches (the paninis are superb) but with 10 tables (two for 6 people), seating may be a wait, but seating at their bar is just as good, and in some ways, puts you at the point of enjoying right where the food comes out. On one wall is a permanent screen for soccer games; be seated and enjoy a warm small loaf of bread with olive oil before a meal. You CAN'T leave here still hungry and for an afternoon sit-and-chat over coffee and desserts, it may be the perfect rest stop with a friend. Wander over from grocery shopping at Mariano's or stroll down Oketo to the elegant Eisenhower...

The server told us the pasta, sauce, and salad dressings are made in house. That explains the fresh and flavorful food!
The server was pleasant and helpful. She and the wait staff helped celebrate my sister's birthday by bring a piece of tiramisu with a candle and singing happy birthday. The tiramisu, also made in house, was delicious!
Two entrees, two glasses of wine and two desserts for just over $60 was reasonable especially considering the quality and quantity of the food.
I will definitely come back when I visit family in the area! Next time we will order different dishes so we can share and experience more of the menu which I am guessing is all...
