Beware! Prices on menu are $2 to $5 lower than what they will actually charge you and you will not be told this unless you discover it on your bill. New owners. EXTREMELY expensive even before the extra 10-15% charged over the menu price. Very small portions. Hardly any side dishes and micro portions of the two items they do give. Some mushrooms and a tiny bit of bean sprout kimchee. Our server was from Guatemala and didn't speak English (but he was very friendly) and the cook appears to be Latino as well. Not Korean. The most expensive dish Boneless Ribs had tough meat that had not even been marinatd. Menu Price was a whopping $32.95 and they charged $37.95 on the bill. It was like 3 ounces of meat and poor quality at that. My spicy pork had minimal meat as well and was very oily. I added noodles for 4 bucks more and I shudder to think how small that portion would have been without the noodles. BiBimBap that the girls had was boring and bland but a big portion. We eat a lot of Korean food all over the world and this was by far the worst. They even charge $4.95 per person for hot tea. I was shocked to see no upcharge for the credit card but I'm sure that will be coming soon. Parties of 6 or more get a 20% auto gratuity added which is pretty standard but normally I see 18% Auto Grat and not 20%. It's hard to force a 20% tip on a group when your server can't even speak English. Owner did readily adjust the bill saying the bill price was correct but just the menu was wrong. She missed one of them and so still overcharged on one dish but I was done with this place and ready to go so just payed the extra. You'll also note the majority of the recent 5-star reviews since they re-opened under this new ownership are from people giving their first review on Google. Not a good sign. Had they not tried the hocus-pocus on the prices I probably would not have even bothered taking the time to leave a poor review on a first visit. I eat out 200-plus nights a year. Please take my advice and eat just about anywhere besides here.
EDIT Double Beware: 2 days after I left my one star review a whole slew of new 5 star reviews popped up on the same day from people who had never left reviews anywhere else ever. Not only are they overcharging but now that have shills giving fake...
Read moreI have to say this place might not very kids/family friendly. The food is fine as usual, I went there with friends few times before. Although until yesterday, I took my 3 yrs son and a girlfriend with her 4 yrs daughter. At the beginning, everything went great, we ordered Udon noodles for the kids, they liked it a lot. But after few bite, my son suddenly through out his last bite of the noodle, then I looked at his face, his eyes got all swollen and rashes around his eyes, nose and chin area. He starts saying"I don't feel good, and my tommy feel hurts." I starts to worry. He eats Udon all the time, this is the first time he gets such reaction. I took him to the restroom and hoping he can go potty so his belly could feel better. He didn't be able to do anything, we went out and I asked for a cup of warm water, the manager/owner lady seems unhappy at this moment. I didn't have time think much, just wanna packed up and take my son to leave right away. We still paid our bill with nice tips. Once we walked out the restaurant in the middle of the hallway, my son start vomiting all the noodles out on the ground. I run back to the restroom and got many paper towels for cleaning up, when I asked the lady for a plastic bag, she seems very mad already, saying not even a word. Only one bus boy who works in the restaurant came out hand over two napkins to my friend. After I cleaned up the floor, I need to take my son wash up a little bit back in the restroom, and told my friend I will take the trash through outside after we come back out. When we in the restroom, the lady came out and told my friend says"You need to through the trash right now. " then pointed out the trashcan in the building. I feel bad to let my friend through the trash for me, also leave that trash in the building. The most uncomfortable I felt is the restaurant host's attitude. I didn't mean to blame them of the food or anything, I was trying my best to take my son leave there as soon as possible. Also did the best to clean the mess. No one seems to bother to help and looked at us as trouble makers. I'm sorry my son got allergies in the restaurant, but just hoping the host didn't make things worse, and made us all...
Read moreI used to really enjoy this restaurant, it was one of our favorites and regulars, but for the past 3 years it has gone downhill drastically. There are really 2 issues - 1st is that the menu is significantly smaller now, and there is no lunch menu anymore. Sukiyaki is gone from dinner menu. Seaweed side dish (dark seaweed) is no longer offered. Hot /buckwheat tea is not offered (maybe it’s available?). 2nd and the most important one is that the service we received the last few times was abysmal. The older waitress is completely unfriendly, provides horrible service with attitude and just plain RUDE! One of the dishes we ordered was the seafood bibimbap, which she either misheard or incorrectly wrote down as beef. When we received the dish, she was not at all willing to take it back - we had to argue and convince her that we ordered seafood, and it wasn’t easy. The side dishes were brought once (5 plates for 7 people) and no refills were offered or brought. Water wasn’t refilled once - the glasses were empty - we asked and she just ignored. No dessert was offered. At 8:30pm after we paid the bills and left too generous of a tip, she said they are about to close and we need to get ready to leave, even though we were still sitting at the table enjoining a conversation with friends. Official closing time is 9. People at other tables were still finishing their food. How is that appropriate to ask guests to leave? I realize the waitress might be having a bad day, but this is a recurring theme - every time we get her (and it’s almost every time) the attitude is the same. This is not really acceptable…
I really wish this place can go back to the old times and we could get a service with a smile. I doubt we will be back in a while. Maybe more reviews like this will prompt...
