First need to address the staff there: as me and my ployee are patiently waiting in line two ladies ahead of us seem upset. They're passive aggressive and start yelling at the staff saying "we're on the clock, you stupid, hurry up!" (Door dashers). Then they start yelling at the two ppl in another language. They then proceed to tell them "I'm cussing you out in another language you never understand". A lady in the restaurant spoke that language (arabic) and told the ladies they were being inappropriate and interpret as nicely as she could what the others had been yelling. The workers literally shook it off, apologized to us for the situation and despite the awful slurs they were called, they just bounced back like nothing happened.
That's the story of customer service and resilience these workers have. That alone deserves 5 stars but wait.... the food... it's SO good.
The guy at the front and another older gal gives us advice on what to order. They were right! Kicking chicken sando was the "best chicken burger/sando" my employee has ever had. The bibimbap bowl... oh em gee.... I smothered it in hot sauce and didn't even taste it -- it was SO delish. Mind you, I started off with a fish taco which should be a meal all in itself it's so big. So I wasn't hungry but this bibimbap... good lort there should be an age limit on it 🤣 it's that Good!
Idk when I'll be back in Michigan but when/if I do, this is...
Read more3.5 stars I'm a white lady that has eaten at lots of Korean restaurants and I have also been to Korea. So I'm not an expert on Korean food, but I do have some experience! This was my first time at kimchibox. I got the royal bulgogi box and the bulgogi tacos. The tacos were really good! There was a nice balance in the crunchy veggies, a creamy sauce, a nice hit of acid from the picked onions, and the savory bulgogi meat. I could have eaten way more of these!
My main disappointment was the box. First off, if you compare my picture to the advertisement, you can see my box has a lot more rice/noodles and less veggies, probably as a cost saving measure? I ended up scooping out half the rice because there was just way too much, and that didn't even include all the noodles as well. This box also desperately needed some sauce, it was pretty dry. For the veggies I only got about 3 small slivers of cabbage and 4 pickled cucumbers. The ad looks like it should come with some kind of lettuce/greens, and what looks like sweet potatoes maybe, but I didn't get any. The bulgogi was good, but I already knew that from the tacos. I feel like this box needed a better balance of ingredients for me to order it again. Stick with the tacos and...
Read moreI’ve been here a few times and have even ordered here and I won’t say it’s the best.
Service isn’t terrible but I do think they could be more helpful for those who come here the first time because it’s not your average restaurant. There’s a lot of things you have to do yourself that they just don’t explain.
Atmosphere is kinda off though. The space is very open and I feel like you can’t be too loud w/o being judged and even the host and the front counter chefs will just stare at you when they get bored.
Lastly, food is pretty good, I’ll give them that. The place can be kinda pricey but decent sizes unless you order in. I did UberEats from for the first time (I ordered the Rosé tteokbokki and Moz dogs) and the portion size was significantly reduced. I expected that to happen because of container sizes but this was crazy. It was like 6 rice cakes an egg and a sea of sauce as you can see in the pic. I was highly disappointed as I felt I wasn’t given my money’s worth. I also remember it coming with more ingredients than rice cakes and an egg the last time I had it (in store) but maybe I’m remembering wrong or I...
