I cannot recommend this place for vegans. I ended up getting take out as it was among the few places open in Novi on a weekday after 8:30 pm that would take an order. I was recommended the Mediterranean Plank ($16) and a house salad ($7). Both dishes were disappointing in both flavour and quantity. The house side salad had very few pine nuts, cranberries and greens. The citrus dressing was decent but slightly tart and lacked balance. The same was true for the plank. The tapenade was too salty and the garlic in the hummus was overwhelming. If you are an extreme garlic lover, this might be up your alley. Having had original hummus, even authentic Lebanese, Jordanian, Syrian hummus, this was different. It had pieces of garlic in it and for me, I didn't enjoy the texture or the astringent taste it brought out. The pita triangles was small and not soft. The red pepper had no flavour and was on the oily side. I appreciate the effort Jacob took to ensure I got something vegan at pick up. He also got a server on the phone to explain what could be made vegan (mostly salads but they won't substitute anything, just remove dairy, meat and eggs) and even tried to get an off menu dessert (sorbet) but it wasn't set yet. Sadly, while it is a popular establishment with conscientious staff, it's quite a ways from accommodating vegans.
Reply: Thank you for responding and acknowledging the errors and stating you are not a vegetarian or vegan restaurant. This is good for diners to know. It was late and raining, and I was only able to ascertain the issues after reaching the house. It would not have been practical and it would have been too late to call you up at that point and ask for a replacement and come out to get it. You can fix your errors for diners at your restaurant easily, but please think about take away orders. If something isn't made properly, please don't serve it or sell it. I gave credit to Jacob for his assistance and effort in my original review above, so not sure why this was mentioned again. When I asked the server what she could do 'veganize' an item, she said that they can only remove the non-vegan items listed in your salads. It would be better for all your diners if you could specifically note what substitutions you can make and label your menu for anyone who has dietary restrictions more clearly, whether they are vegan or not. It would easier to know what one...
Read moreI've been to Diamond Jim Brady's a handful of times while living in Metro Detroit. It tends to be one of the go-to choices for upscale cuisine that doesn't have to be insanely expensive, while still providing a nicer experience than the average American restaurant/ large chain in the area.
The layout of the restaurant certainly has its own flair and I think you'll find it to have a cool vibe as well. The restaurant has a full bar and a good selection of tables; additionally, they also have a patio area that gets sealed and heated for the winter!
The menu has some solid options, and you'll find good options for most palates on it. I will say, the biggest critique I have of the restaurant is that the tab can start to add up really quickly! I was at the restaurant recently, and was surprised at how 2 drinks and 2 entrees can add up to a tidy sum in short order!
All that said, the experience is fantastic, food tastes good, and the selection of drinks is solid; you can't really complain about the visit overall! If you're looking for a "nice dinner" (and are prepared to drop some coin), Diamond Jim Brady's is certainly worth a try.
Keto/ Low Carb folks: The 12 Oz New York Strip Steak is a fantastic (and yes, quite pricey) option that works as a great big dinner. Both sides served with the dish are on the lower-carb side (twist on cauliflower, and green beans), plus you get a choice of salad. I wouldn't do this as a weekly (or even monthly) option, but it's a nice treat...
Read moreWe went on 1/3/25. The food was delicious đ. This was my 2nd time here & it didnât disappoint. 1st time was on 11/7/23 & I had the Bistro Salmon & Meatballs for appetizer & enjoyed them both! This time I had 1 of the chicken specials (that was only available for 2 days) & I canât remember what this chicken dish was called but it was Delicious đ€€. It tasted like a Chicken Pot Pie mixed with Chicken Noodle Soup but in solid form. This was the best, especially on a cold winterâs day. Also, for appetizer, had the Figgy Piggy flatbread & the flavors were insanely good. This will be my go to appetizer everytime I go here đ. The rolls were good too. The other dish is the Steak Diane which was good as well, wasnât quite my taste though because of mushrooms & the Brandy-Demi glaze but if you like those flavors youâll love it as it was tender & juicy. Next time the plan is to order the Coulotte Steak (I was going to order that this last time but happily didnât want to miss the special). I didnât care for the caesar salad though as it was a little bitter (which may in partly be due to them likely using actual anchovies for the dressing - I made sure to have them not include them in the salad but I think itâs in the dressing & thatâs why it tasted a lil bitter to me). The vibe of this restaurant is a grown, calm, & chill spot for a nice date night & also suitable for family dinner as well (very...
