Tubby's Sub Shop — Restaurant in Novi

It had been years since I had eaten at a Tubby's, and I was recently given a few gift cards from here so I figured I would give it shot again.

This location seemed kind of run down and not updated based upon the look and feel of the interior. Though it was quite busy when I walked in so that was a little reassuring. Also the lady running the grill couldn't have looked any more miserable than she did on this particular occasion.

I will say that I was less than impressed. I ordered the "Philly Cheese Steak" sandwhich and though not terrible and definitely edible it was certainly nothing to write home about. It tasted like a generic version of that particular sandwich that could be obtained really anywhere.

After I ordered my sandwich, I presented the cashier with the gift cards that I had, and she mentioned that she couldn't give me cash back for the remaining amount that was left over after the cost of my sandwich. She also mentioned maybe adding a bag of chips to my order. We ended up settling on adding a drink (which unbeknownst to me actually put me over the total that the gift cards contained). She then told me that my total was like 30 cents, and of course on this day I had no cash on me, and their credit card minimum is 5 dollars or something like that. She started to make a big deal about the 30 cents and then ended up just telling me not to worry about it and making it seem like she did me this giant favor (her customer service skills were a little lackluster during this time).

I never mind paying for something. And I never expect to be given a break when paying for something. But the way the situation was handled, left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth (and it wasn't from the sandwhich if you know what I mean). I was however still polite and let them know that I appreciated them waiving the difference for me.

I doubt you'll find me back at this location unless I am starving and literally nothing else sounds good. If that is the case, I will make sure I have a bit of cash on hand in order to avoid any further...

I'm a huge Tubby's fan, I have ate at alot of them. I heard good things about the Novi, MI location so naturally I wanted to try it. I went for lunch today and I wasn't impressed. I choose cheese bread for my sub and when the girl called my order..I sat down and took the paper wrapper off, It didn't look like cheese bread AT ALL. I went up and said "I ordered the cheese bread." The girl looks at me puzzled and says "That is our cheese bread." Um... seriously?! It was a few dabs of some powder cheese on top of the bread. I've never seen that before at Tubby's. The cheese bread is baked on top by shreaded cheese.

The sub was awful...there was hardly any dressing or lettuce and only 1-2 tomatoes slices. They didn't even give me napkins. And I searched for napkins in the place...there was none to be found. That pissed me off...like are you that cheap not to provide the customer with napkins?? I will not be...
