We have been here several times over the past year or so and it has always been great! We came on New Year’s Day with our daughter and the service was terrible. We waited a long time for drinks and even longer for food. When we paid, they never brought our change back and no one could be found.
We went tonight with a bigger group of people (about 18) and had made reservations. They had one server for our group and the restaurant was not busy. It took him an hour before we ordered and that was after I flagged him down and said we should order. By this time drinks were bone dry empty and we asked for refills. They kept bringing us more chips and salsa too which was nice until they charged each basket on our bill. Kind of weird when they were the ones bringing them out. We mentioned to the hostess twice that our waiter needed help but she ignored it saying I’ll ask him. He struggled and 4 other waitresses/hostess stood around doing nothing and at one point taking pictures of themselves. Once the food came, a few dishes were not made correctly and 4 meals were forgotten and he had to ask for their order again. They got their food near the end of everyone else’s meal. When the bills came we were charged for chips and salsa and an automatic tip was added (the tip makes sense though because we were a big party). Many of the bills were wrong and required changes. All in all we were there 2.5 hours, much longer than anticipated. Food was good on those dishes that were correct. Atmosphere was good except for wait staff not helping out.
I’m not sure we’ll be back. It’s too bad we had 2 bad incidents here after a year of great. Makes me think there was a staffing or...
Read moreMy only disappointment regarding Alchile is that I didn't try it sooner! I'd driven by it countless times, noting that a new restaurant had arrived in the area, without realizing that it was a new branch of Alchile, which is already a great spot for tacos. The location of this restaurant is really convenient as it's right off of Grand River, near the 96/275/696 intersection
This particular Alchile location steps up the hangout potential and allows for a more relaxed place for people to spend time talking and catching up. Adding the bar for having a few drinks (their margarita selection is pretty dang solid), lends to that even moreso. The menu has a ton of good options in terms of true mexican dishes, not just the classic fast-casual style stuff you'd see at a Qdoba or Chipotle.
Keto/ Low Carb Folks: I'd recommend getting the Discada Alchile, or one of the Fajita options. The Discada Alchile is a beast of a meal, but comes with just about every meat you could ever ask for in a dish! It is on the expensive side, but could definitely be two meals for someone who's motivated to make that happen.
All told, it's definitely worth checking out, and a nice option as a mix up from the regular...
Read moreGetting Alchile Novi takeout has prevented me from going off the rails during quarantine. Their food is fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Wonderfully, they offer potatoes as a 'meat' filling, which makes this vegetarian delighted.
I recommend the Huarache dinner with potato: it's a long oval slice of what I can best describe as Mexican flatbread made with corn and topped with beans - in this case potato - lettuce, tomato, avocado, and sour cream.
It is a treat for the senses with all the colours, texture, and flavours. Wash it down with a delicious Alchile margarita and forget your cares for a little while. It of course comes with their flavourful rice and beans. Don't forget to ask for the homemade chipotle and jalapeno salsas to compliment it. Warning: you will eat too much because you won't be able to stop.
Finally, I have it on good authority [my Mexican coworker] that the food is authentically Mexican, also proved out by the number of Hispanic folks I saw eating there pre-pandemic. Looking forward to being able to have a meal on the restaurant patio and enjoying more great margaritas in addition to...
