recently visited Mala Land and decided to try their Malaban, a variation of the traditional Malatang.
The experience was absolutely delightful from start to finish. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the inviting and vibrant atmosphere. The decor was modern yet cozy, and the staff greeted me warmly, making me feel right at home.
The Malaban itself was the star of the show. The selection of ingredients was vast and fresh, including a wide array of vegetables, and noodles. I loved being able to customize my bowl to my liking. The broth was incredibly flavorful, with a perfect balance of savory and spicy notes. I chose a mild spice level(level1), which provided just the right amount of kick without overwhelming the palate. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, offering helpful suggestions and ensuring that my dining experience was top-notch. They were quick to refill ingredients and provide any additional items I needed. Portion sizes were generous, and the pricing was reasonable, offering great value for the quality and variety of food provided. The dining experience was both satisfying and enjoyable, making it clear that Mala Land takes pride in delivering high-quality meals and excellent customer service. The combination of fresh ingredients, flavorful broth, and excellent service makes it a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a unique and delicious meal. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to all hot pot...
Read moreThis place was a lot pricier than what I expected. They charge $15/lb if you get the mala soup or $17/lb if you get the mala stir fry.
You basically come in, grab some tongs and pick out the ingredients you want into your bowl, and then hand it to the person to cook in the back. I found it difficult choosing which ingredients I wanted because none of it was labeled. Another thing that bothered me is the amount of cross contamination that could happen here. You use the same tongs that you touched the raw shrimp/beef with for the vegetables as well. I hope they get separate tongs for each ingredient…
As for the dish itself, the soup flavor was average mala soup. I got level 2 and it wasn’t as spicy as I thought. I actually liked the stirfry more as it had a lot more flavoring, was spicier, and had that dry kick. Soy garlic Popcorn chicken was also very well flavored and crispy! If I go back I will stick with the stir fry !
The restaurant space is small and casual. They have a self serve/clean up area in the back along with clean bathrooms. Make sure to listen for your number to pick up your...
Read moreThis place was ok. It was my first time going, and we did the create your own to go. It came out to be 1.9lbs because I assume they add a 1lb of broth in, idk, and I asked for them to add ramen noodles they had in the back, which was $2, and my overall total was $33, which I thought was insane. When my food came out, it came out in two bowls, which confused me. So I ate my first bowl that I assumed had everything divided up, because all of my ingredients I picked out wasn’t in my first bowl. I got the medium spice and thought it tasted unseasoned. The broth wasn’t bad, but was missing some flavor. So I gave my other bowl to my mom. Come to find out, the ramen was only in one bowl. I just with the explained things better because the second bowl was essentially soup, and I didn’t know I would be getting so much broth. So this review is for those who may be going for the first time, ask questions to maybe just get a 1lb portion. And maybe get the highest level of spice, because medium was not...
