Five Chris Catering — Restaurant in Nutley

We come here for Self-serve Filipino Food Buffet. that is their thing and they are good at it, and their buffet price is fair, actually, better than fair.

Tip: if you come here too early in the morning, they will not have that many dishes yet, because it takes a while to prep Filipino food - you've been warned.

Chicken Curry (Filipino style) is nice and spicy and tasty. That is our go to dish. Everything else are good. The food quality is nice, no fillers like most Filipino restos. Taste can sometimes be inconsistent (I like spicy, but sometimes they can be nuclear).

They do take out, but we don't. the quality and beauty and value of the place is for buffet, not for take out (when you do take out, you'll understand)

They take CASH and credit cards, but check on the credit card minimum order - it can be steep.

I’m so disappointed. I’m from Queens, New York, and my family has been ordering from Five Chris for over 20 years — even before my kids were born. We used to order from them for every party and I recommended them to so many friends in Queens because the food was always great.

Unfortunately, the quality has gone way down. Last year, the palabok and dinuguan we ordered smelled off and tasted like they were made days before. We gave them another chance this past weekend and ordered lechon — for $395, it was dry, the meat was hard, and not worth the price at all. The only thing we enjoyed was the banana turon.

To all my fellow New Yorkers: there are so many better and fresher Filipino food options right here in Queens. Sadly, Five Chris is no longer...

Good Food! Lemme start with that. We used them for 3 events now. 1st with the baby showering where we did their catering service. With that, they set up everything, serve the guest and clean up after. We had left over foods in which they pack for guest who wants some food to go. The other 2 events (birthday and retirement party) we had the food delivered. They are friendly and accommodating. So far, for all events, our guest compliments their food and ask for their information. Price is reasonable with the amount of food and choices compare the other Filipino catering. Even though they maybe a distance from my area or the hall rental we use, but with delivery it makes it very convenient. Looking forward for more...
