Here’s the deal: most of the food is reheated Costco dishes (I guarantee, if you check how the taquitos are made, you’ll find them being reheated in an oven). The rice is definitely not Mexican rice, and the beans are pretty much fresh from the can.
Chips and salsa come unlimited for a price. If you have a good server this is great, otherwise expect to not get your moneys worth as they forget your table (we sat outside and were routinely forgotten).
The margaritas are bland. My wife and I had the strawberry blended marg and the Li Hing Mui margarita on the rocks. Expect a watery tequila drink with simple syrup or something, nothing close to an actual margarita. We’re professional alcoholics and we didn’t want to risk ordering another disappointment (a first for us).
The one little glimmer of hope was the steak quesadilla. It’s definitely made fresh (although if you’re a stickler I doubt they make their tortillas in house). Steak was good, cheese and veggies were fine. Portions are big. That being said, still pretty pricy for the quality.
This is a teenagers attempt at making Mexican food they saw on TV once, but who has also never cooked before, so a lot of the food is pre-made from Costco or just straight from the can with little flavor.
The only reason it’s 2 and not 1 stars is that the staff was quite friendly! Definitely nice decor too. Outdoor seating was nice as well.
Unless you’re desperate (it’s not like this food will make you sick or anything), or need to shove cheap food into your kid’s mouth, I’d try another restaurant...
Read moreGreat service; I would say the best service in Oahu. unlimited homemade chips and salsa which I enjoy. That’s about it. Food is terrible otherwise and has no flavor. Because my partner somehow loves this place (!) I came here several times.
I have had their tacos, tamales, spinach and cheese enchiladas. Taco is American style. big meh (with lettuce tomatoes and package cheese). tamale is a sad mess with dried out beef inside and their sauce is a lump of flavorless and very sour corn starch mess. Sadly, the premade bottle hot sauce they have at the restaurant is better than their mole or verde. You have to ask for the bottled hot sauce though or you can pick them up near the door. spinach and cheese enchiladas has no flavor, again. Yes it is cheesy, but has no salt, pepper, garlic or whatever seasoning authentic Mexican food requires.
Their Chile Rellano, however, is deeply fried until the pepper is tender and sweet. Other places I have been to in this island doesn’t fry it enough. Again I am no expert on this but I like it deep fried till the pepper tender and sweet, so I like that. At a whooping 9.50 Ala Carte and 13.50 with a side of rice and beans and consider this doesn’t come with meat or veggies, that is expensive!!!
The tip— portion is HUGE and they offer eco container. Grab yourself the hot sauce bottles and drench your leftover with them. Ask for another side of salsa and dump them on your food. Leave this in the fridge for a night and the next day the food will be...
Read moreAte dinner here on Saturday night with my daughter and son-in-law. We had about a seven minute wait. It was about 8pm when we arrived We were seated and almost immediately our waitress appeared with menus and received our drink order. I had water with lemon , as did my daughter. My son-in-law had a drink. We were served salsa a d chips. Our drinks arrived soon enough. We soon asked for more salsa, but it was not brought. The waitress came and took our orders. My daughter ordered the enchilada plate My son-in-law steak fajitas and I ordered chicken fajitas. We again asked for more salsa We finally got the salsa. My daughter enjoyed her plate. My son-in-law 's steak was not very tender. My chicken was seared on the outside to the point I had to peel the outside off. It was tasty on the inside However, my plate was cold My beans had very little cheese. There were no tomatoes added to the red and green peppers There were fried onions. Our waitress made several visits to the bar to enjoy talking and laughing with other customers. I will have to say, our service and our food lacked the attention it needed . I will plan to visit another restaurant in the future when I have a desire for Mexican. My supper alone was $20.95...
