Greetings Foodzies , today we travel to Oak Brook; we are at lazy dog at 1775 W. 22nd St. This restaurant is a rustic type restaurant all the way from the log chandelier in the foyer to the servers wearing plaid shirts and blue jeans. The interior has plenty of wood and stone just like you would find in a home in Montana. Our server, Olivia was very nice, pleasant and knowledgeable. We even had a visit from the manager Murphy who gave us Parmesan chips as first time customers. The atmosphere was calm With various types of music being played. We started our meal adventure with crispy deviled eggs, these are eggs which are lightly battered fried and then the yolk mixture placed in side covered with paprika with a piece of candy, bacon inserted in the yolk mixture. This was served on a bed of arugula, dryad with a honey, mustard sauce. This was a very tasty bite the crunch of the breading offset with the sweetness of the candied bacon had all the flavors you look for in an appetizer. Part of their menu is the $15 fireside menu. This menu had multiple entrées to choose from and it also came with a s’mores brownie sundae. Our choices were the Mediterranean chicken bowl (Grilled lemon chicken breast, yellow rice, tomato-cucumber-feta salad, kalamata olives, tzatziki sauce + spring pea hummus) this was a bright refreshing plate of food with the tomato, cucumber salad and the spinach sweet pea hummus topped with the tzatziki sauce. The chicken was moist and seasoned well. Our second meal was the shrimp tacos, (Stone ground corn tortillas, queso blanco, cabbage, served with fresh lime, salsa, spanish rice + cilantro black beans), tortillas for the tacos were soft and held up well with the toppings; there’s very little shrimp in it but what shrimp they had had some good flavor. Most of the taco was shredded lettuce, and coleslaw, which was a little bit disheartening. But the rice and beans worked nice together. It also had a little spicy tomato sauce, which also gave a little kick to the dish. Lastly, we tried the blackened chicken bowl. (Spanish rice, blackened chicken, cabbage, guacamole, black beans, hatch chiles, jack, cheddar, salsa, sweet corn, cilantro, tapatio crema) the chicken once again was seasoned well. The blacken rub gave it a little bit of heat plus a good char flavor. It was a very good dish. We ended our meal with the dessert which was the s’more brownie sundae. I’m not a big dessert person, with this tasted very good. They even scorch the marshmallow to make it look authentic. All in all, we had a great time the food was good many more dishes on there to try maybe one day we’ll get back and try a few more. I give this restaurant five stars because of their service and food. Try it out yourself and let me know what you think. Ciao ciao for now. Don’t forget come follow me on TikTok. I am...
Read moreWe have been to Lazy dog several times and really enjoy it. The food and service were great. We went a few days ago and were seated in the sun room which is outside but was all enclosed with plastic and had a nice fireplace going, no problem there. Everything was good...until. Why do people insist that they need to bring their dogs in with them to have a meal with them. I preface by saying we are dog lovers and if you kept your dog next to you at your table no problem. However, people felt that they should let their dog out as far as the leash would go and the next thing you know you are trying to enjoy your meal and there is a dog sitting next to you. But by far the worst was when a patron decided that his dog was "special" and needed to sit on the chair next to him at a high top table. Sure enough the dogs tail was wagging all over the table top, and the dogs butt was resting on the table itself. I sure would NOT want to be the next guest to sit at that table no matter how much they cleaned it. We will continue to go to Lazy dog, but will never be seated in the sun room again. Maybe Lazy Dog should rethink how they handle pets in the restaurant. We decided to go to Lazy Dog again today on Feb 07th at 3;45 pm for an early dinner. We were seated and ordered appetizers and our entrees. Within a few minutes our appetizer arrived and within 5 min our dinner arrived. It was like we were being totally rushed. We were not even half way through our appetizer when our server came with the bill and asked us if we were willing to pay it because she had to go off to her second job. Really!, then why was she assigned our table if she was literally going off shift in a matter of minutes? We paid our bill before we were even a quarter way through our meal so she could run off. From there, no one ever came back to see if we needed a refill on our ice tea, or if we needed anything else. After sitting there about 10 min after we completed our meal, another server came by, cleaned the plates and asked us if we wanted our bill. We told her we already paid it and she just left like the place was on fire. We have patronized Lazy Dog at least a dozen times since it opened, we have brought friends and family there many times, and I am not sure if it is just us, but has anyone else noticed there there always seems to be a gnat issue? This time was no exception. Pretty sure this will be the last time we will be going there. I would be interested in a response...
Read moreI will never go back here after a horrible, deplorable and racist service. I went to the Oak Brook IL location and sat on the patio. Of note, my family and I are Asian and my partner is white. As soon as my family sat down with my dog who is a tiny 12lb shih tzu in a stroller, the waitress was immediately rude, distant and hostile. You could tell the difference in demeanor between our table and the other tables who happened to be white. (note: all of those people had huge dogs with them)
After our appetizers, we asked for less salt in our food as they were on the salty side. Our server replied with, "there is nothing we can do about that" and promptly walked away. We then asked for extra plates to share and she only came with two plates which she handed to my white partner.
We had to ask her again for more plates for the whole table. When we were finished with our meal, we ordered another round of drinks and snacks. As soon as we placed the order, the manager, Mary, comes up and says that we have to leave because our dog was threatening to the waitress and that my dog was too close to the table. We had NEVER seen the manager prior to this, was never told anything about this from our server, our server CONTINUED to serve us until the very end when we decided that we wanted another round of drinks. Again, this happened almost at the END of our meal. The manager, instead of sending another server over or verifying any details, decided to kick out the only non-white table in the patio. My dog never tried to bite the server. If anything, the server had tried to get too close to my dog in a threatening manner. My dog was in her stroller the ENTIRE TIME and never touched the table once. The other HUGE Labrador and other dogs was TOUCHING the table with their paws all over it and that server NEVER said a word. Again, while all of this is going on, the server continued to talk in a COMPLETELY different manner to all of the other tables she was serving (again none of those tables had minorities).
I am so disappointed with this establishment that I am no longer going to be a customer here and I will make sure that everyone I know will never come here. I can't believe that something like this is still in existence. How can you call yourselves dog friendly if your servers and restaurant can't even handle dogs.
Something needs to change QUICKLY with this...
