Bed was comfortable, manager did his best, but it appears he's inherited a sinking ship.||The parking for the hotel is at the back of the hotel and you have to enter through a back door and go down a long, winding hallway with several turns to find the front desk. Not the best situation for someone with a disability. The parking lot has disabled accessible parking spots but there are large gaps between the curb and parking lot that make it very difficult to get a wheelchair from the car to the sidewalk and into the back door.||I specifically requested a handicapped accessible room with wheel in shower and mentioned that my husband uses a wheelchair. We got to our room and could not get my husband's wheelchair into the room because of furniture blocking the entryway. We were able to rearrange the furniture so that we could get the chair into the room, but then it was an awkward arrangement, with the desk sticking out partway into the room. The bathroom did not have a wheel in shower as we were promised when I made the reservation.||The room appeared clean but when I opened the refrigerator, I found a dirty plate in it with dried food on it. I took it to the front desk and they cleaned it and gave it back to me. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do with it, but was told that it should stay in the refrigerator to collect drips.||I also kept finding puddles in the bathroom. I kept thinking that perhaps my husband was missing the toilet when he used it (something that doesn't happen at home, but I figured maybe since it was a different toilet, he was having trouble). I kept cleaning up the puddles. Found out later that the puddles were the result of an improperly installed toilet that was leaking into our room.||Once we were settled, the room was very hot, so I tried to adjust the air conditioner. Once I got it going, it started making a very loud noise and would not stop. Apparently this was why the unit had been switched to "heat" instead of "cool". I called the front desk. We were offered to switch rooms and I was taken to see a different room. With my husband's disability, switching rooms is difficult, but we were going to go ahead and do it, until the manager said that another option would be to replace the heating and a/c unit, but that if they did, we'd have to operate it from the unit instead of the thermostat on the wall. It seemed like a pretty good compromise to me. I don't mind operating the a/c from the unit as long as it works and isn't so noisy that we can't sleep. The manager was very kind and truly wanted to help. He offered us a free dinner at the hotel restaurant, which we accepted.||Sadly that was only the beginning of our problems at this hotel.||Our bathroom was supposed to be handicapped accessible, which it tried to do, but failed. There were grab bars around the toilet and in the shower/tub, but none on the wall between the toilet and tub. There was a large area between the door and the tub and between the toilet and tub that had no grab bars, so getting to the tub was dangerous if you need those grab bars. I had to assist my husband to get to and into the tub each morning. The tub itself was slippery and there was no mat in it, so standing is dangerous for someone with a disability. I brought in a bath mat that I had in my vehicle for just such an occurrence, and then of course forgot to to take it with me when we left because we ended up leaving in a hurry due to safety problems, which I'll go onto later. The soap, and lotion containers near the sink were placed too high on the wall for a person in a wheelchair to reach. The soap, shampoo and conditioner in the shower/tub were placed on the wall opposite the shower head, which meant that when my husband was sitting in the shower chair to shower, the amenities were behind his head, and inaccessible to him. We requested and were given separate bottles of soap and shampoo to keep in the shower and on the edge of the vanity. The vanity itself didn't provide much room for such things or for our own toiletry bags, but we made to.||There was no shower seat, but the front desk staff gave me a plastic one, which was dirty. When I requested that it be cleaned or that I be given supplies to clean it, they could not understand what I was saying, due to a language barrier. My request for cleaning supplies to clean the yucky stuff off the shower seat resulted in a staff member providing me with a washcloth. I did my best to clean the chair with some disinfectant wipes I had brought with me, and the shower soap.||This language barrier continued to be a problem throughout our stay. The hotel claims to have staff that speak multiple languages, but the one language that appeared to be a continual problem, was English. We have stayed at many hotels in foreign countries and never had problems with a language barrier such as we did at this hotel, which is smack dab in the middle of the United States.||We had quite a few problems with the elevator. One of the 4 elevators would get stuck on our floor (third floor), and since it was there, stuck open, none of the other 3 elevators would work from our floor because it "thought" there was an elevator already there. I had to run down the stairs to talk to the front desk to let them know that the elevator was stuck. Apparently this is not an unusual occurrence for that elevator and it frequently gets stuck on the third floor. They acted like it was no big deal and told me that a button was stuck. I was not able to figure out which button was stuck or how to get it unstuck. The staff got it unstuck though and I thought everything was fine. That was until it got stuck again, and again, and again during our stay. The elevator worked fine from any other floor and we were always able to call an elevator from any other floor.||I mentioned earlier that I had made it clear to the person who booked us into our room, that my husband uses a wheelchair. Why they decided to book us into a room our a floor where they knew the elevator stops and stay is beyond me. For us, it meant that my husband was TRAPPED frequently on our floor and could not leave. I am so glad that he didn't have a medical emergency while we were there as there would have been no way to get my husband safely out of the hotel if he did. As it was, it was HUGE inconvenience when we would leave our room to go somewhere and realize that he could not leave until the elevator was repaired. This happened multiple times in each day we were there. The staff NEVER repaired the elevator properly.||At one point, I ran into an elderly man with a can in the hall who also needed to use the elevator but was not able to. He was furious because not only could he not use the elevator but the hotel staff had just moved him out of his room because there was a leak that had soaked his luggage and clothing. Imagine going through that and getting moved to a room on a floor with a non-working elevator when you use a cane for mobility.||We later found out that the gentleman I had met in the hall and originally been booked into the room directly below ours. Now mind you, the staff knew that water was leaking from the room above his, into his room, and enough had leaked that it had soaked his suitcase. Not once did the staff think to ask if we were having water problems in our room. As I mentioned, I kept mopping up water in our bathroom, that appeared to be coming from around the toilet. I had no idea the extent of the problem until later. The staff should have known though and asked me if we were having problems with a leak since they knew water leaking from the floor of our room through the ceiling into the room below ours. Our last night there (we were supposed to stay longer, but at that point I was very concerned for our safety), during the night, I tossed a couple of pillows onto the floor because there were too many on the bed. In the morning, I picked up the pillows to put them back on the bed, only to realize that they were completely soaked through. Apparently the leak in the bathroom was EXTENSIVE and the floor in half of our room was completely soaked through. When I realize this, I started checking other things. My computer case was on the floor and it was also soaked and was ruined. I was very concerned that my computer would be ruined as well, but I was able to get it out of the case and dry it out in time. The case though was ruined. I mentioned to the front desk staff that the leak in the room ruined my computer case but no one offered to replace it or reimburse me for it.||At that point, I was very concerned about the safety of our room and if the floor would eventually just fall through while we were there since it was so badly soaked with water. ||I very quickly packed up our room and hightailed it out of there as I did not want to spend a minute longer than I absolutely needed to, in that building. I had no idea the extent of the water damage, but I had heard others say that there had been problems with a leaking roof previously||Again I want to add that the hotel manager was wonderful and tried to help out as much as he could. I could tell that he felt terrible about all the problems we'd had and he was very angry when I told him that I had repeatedly told the front desk staff that the elevator was not working and they had not told him or done anything to correct the problem. Apparently he did not know this was a recurring problem and I could tell he was surprised and angry that he hadn't been told by the staff that there was a problem with the elevator, when I told him that I had complained repeatedly about it.||Since we were given a certificate to use for dinner in the hotel restaurant, we made use of it. The staff there were accommodating and friendly. The made it clear that we could order anything we wanted and as much as we wanted. When they brought out our food, it became apparent that they had somehow missed my entire order and had only prepared my husband's food. This was simply a miscommunication for which they apologize and assure me that my dinner would be prepared as quickly as possible and delivered to our room. The food was delivered promptly and everything absolutely delicious. We could not have asked for a better meal. I just wish we'd remembered to bring the leftovers with us when we left in a hurry...
Read moreI stayed here the weekend before Christmas Day 2024 because a nearby Holiday Inn property I usually stay at was under heavy renovation.
The man at the front desk was very pleasant and professional and was able to answer my concerns and questions at check in.
The room was neat, clean, bright and recently renovated. Everything worked, from the hot water to the furnace to the coffeemaker and to the TV. My room was on the top floor and I had a good view of the parking lot in the bs k of the hotel as well as a neighborhood with plenty of Christmas lights.
I arrived to the hotel by driving Eastbound on Butterfield Road on a high traffic volume Saturday afternoon. It took a long time to make the left turn into the parking lot. The overall area gets easily congested during the day and night. And to top it off, there is a Bar Louie place attached to the hotel. My stay is about to get interesting on a Saturday night.
After I checked in, I went out to spend time with family, and then returned to the hotel well after 10:00pm local time. The parking lot was getting more busy and a lot of people going in and out of Bar Louie. I found a parking space towards the back wall and next to the row of parking spaces reserved for the Elite Members.
Back in my top floor room with a good view of the parking lot, I got to see the action on a Saturday night. It was mostly people going to Bar Louie and people just parking and sitting in their cars for who knows what reasons. I’ve seen multiple cars driving around and almost hitting my parked car! It got to the point, hours later, where I saw an open parking space between two other cars, and I got out to move my car to this space. It was after 2:00am local time. Meanwhile the party like noise and stuff carried on at the Bar Louie place.
Later that morning, I checked out, went or my car and guess what? There was a pool of vomit next to my car that froze in the ice cold night. Thankfully the vomit didn’t stain my car, or worse.
Don’t get me wrong, the hotel is nice, clean, bright and provides very good front desk service. The parking lot needs to be monitored with the safety of the hotel guests and their vehicles, in mind, especially when there is a bar with parties going in and out. My experience wasn’t terrible though it wasn’t relaxing. As the saying goes “your...
Read moreThis visit was one of the worst hotel stays I've ever had. I booked a room for one Saturday night. Saturdays are usually a hotel's busiest night, so I expected it to be a little more loud and livelier than normal, so that isn't the issue.
The issue is that this hotel has seen better days. Walking in, you can already tell something isn't right. The front desk itself looked nothing like a front desk, but what I can only imagine were lawn tables set up with tablecloth in the middle of a hallway. The ambiance and structure of the building felt more old and unclean than some of the other Holiday Inn properties I've been to.
The representative was friendly and helpful enough, no complaints there. When we arrived, they said they didn't have our room set up yet, so we had to wait a couple of minutes for them to do so. They offered us free breakfast for this wait, so that was nice of them. We also asked if they could provide a roll away bed and sure enough they were able to comply. So far, so good. Once we got our room key, we headed on up to our room.
And that was when the night took a huge nosedive. The moment we opened the room door, you were immediately hit with the smell of VOMIT. I couldn't believe it. My friend and I walked around the room looking around for where this vomit could be. The room looked clean at first glace, but when inspecting the side of the bed, you could see some sort of stain on the duvet, which we can only assume was where the vomiting had occurred. Housekeeping did what they could to clean any visual vomit off of the bed and carpet, but you could still smell it in the room. The carpet on the sides of the bed were where it was most noticeable.
We called the front desk immediately and let them know our concern and to see if they could move us to another room. After about 30 minutes, the front desk calls back telling us that the hotel is completely booked and there are no other rooms available.
This was unacceptable, but it was already very late at night and we didn't have the energy to find another hotel. We tried our best to endure through the night, but every so often in the middle of the night, I would be feel like I'm smelling vomit on the pillows.
I hope they have since demolished and cleaned that room, it is an unfit room to offer...
