Sunset Grill — Restaurant in Oak Island

I recalled that they opened over the weekend so this evening when I was pondering what to eat for dinner at 820p, I decided I would give it a shot. Everything was delicious, my only small issues were that the falafel was a bit too dense and over baked /fried, and the bowl that I ordered did not come with a salad and I thought they all came with salad. The Sunset Bowl is an actual rice bowl. All of the flavors were delicious. I had the homemade lemonade which was also delicious and wasn't overly tangy or sour, I was worried I would maybe get some heartburn from it but it was rather refreshing. Matty(sp) and Laura(I hope I recalled correctly were amazing hosts and Laura the manager checked in on me towards the end and I quietly told her my falafel was over done and that I had expected salad but it wasn't part of the dish so my bad and happily offered to bring me a salad to just get a chance to try their homemade dressing which was really good and flavorful. I hope they actually serve the salads with some feta, my only other opinion is that the meats are cut or sliced really small or thin on the bowl I got and that's not to my preference however everything was satisfying, large portions, very friendly staff. I will definitely return to try more menu items soon....

We were on vacation to Oak Island. Our last night there and wanted something lighter. Well we waited 2 hours, the hostesses were not the problem. They kept checking on is and apologizing. We waited from 6:40pm to about 8:35pm. I finally had to go ask for answer on my order status. What I could gather is chef was too busy to make chicken wings. I was furious. We would’ve been okay swapping out that item to something easier, could’ve even lied and said they were outta wings. No biggie. The hostess told us we could just leave since we didn’t pay yet. Wasted 2 hours of our vacation. Don’t even waste your time and screw the chef. Tell your customer if you aren’t capable of doing something or hire more staff. There were people waiting 45 minute plus for take out orders. They kept accepting more orders. How about not accepting orders until you can fulfill the ones you have or...

Tried this spot because we had such a great experience at the attached ice cream parlor... however we were left disappointed. We were the only ones here when we sat down . Took longer than expected to get our drinks and we were never offered refills or checked on . The kids said their chicken tenders tasted like walmart 🤣.. not good. I got the spicy ckn sandwich . It was pretty good . Ordered soft floppy chips and was told OK... got hard cold chips when we walked to the counter to ask for them to remake (because waitress never checked on us ) we were told they don't cook it like that no more because ppl complained . It takes 10 seconds to drop chips n the frier and pull them up. Could be it was just an off day for this place but I can't see recommending this place to anyone . Hope others have a...
