I read the review in Metro Times and been wanting to stop by to check this place out. It is rare for me to be around here during their limited hours and read they sell out early. We arrived around Noon today and they were pretty cleaned out. Fortunately they had one chocolate croissant left and knew we had to have one of those based on the review and also got the coffee cake for our second item planing to split them both. Oh my. The croissant may have been the best I have had outside Paris, light flakey and buttery. Perfect. The coffee cake was also superb. The women running this bakery clearly have a special talent. If bakery treats are your thing I highly recommend trying Forest Bakery. They are only open Thursday through Saturday and open at 10:00. Get there early cause they close when they run out and from what we saw they can run out...
Read moreHyo, listen here; if you don’t go to Forest, you don’t know what’s good for you. If you want your parents to be proud of you, finally, go here. This bakery is above and beyond what you’ll find elsewhere, even major cities. You will need to be early, though — and it does you no good to complain, because no one who has experienced Forest would tell you its not worth the wait. Do yourself and your loved ones a f(l)avor and go. They do lunch sometimes, their leek potato soup was excellent, they serve coffee/tea, too; cinnamon roll is divine. I give these folks a “5” star on a ‘bad’ day; and no, I don’t know them personally. P.S. I write this glamorous review after not being early enough to get pastry on “Fat Tuesday.” I meant what I...

I ordered a coffee and a butter croissant. I LOVE a croissant, and always have high hopes - but more often than not I'm let down by an underwhelming bite. So, imagine my delight as I bit into the flakiest, most wonderfully textured pastry I've had in a very long time. The outside was crispy, virtually exploding like a tree struck by lightening (evidence provided of my shirt post-snack), and the inside was soft and perfectly chewy. It was a great way to...
