Daninos trattoria — Restaurant in Oak Ridge

The food was good and I was excited to find a small local place near home to eat some pasta.

But the service was horrendous. Took forever to get our order and food which at first I thought was alright. But then throughout the dinner my date and I were completely ignored while all the tables right around us were being attended to. I had to flag someone down for my 1st and only refill. While the table ahead of us must have been the owner or something because they got continuous attention from multiple employees and were asked repeatedly if they were enjoying their dinner. One member even stood there having a whole conversation with them.

All this happening while we were already waiting 15 mins with our plates finished in front of us, nobody asking if we needed the table cleared, dessert, coffee, etc. Nothing. So like flagging someone down for a refill I also tried flagging someone down for the check but eventually just stood up and went to the counter where the lady put her finger up and said "just a moment" before I even said anything I just told her I needed to pay.

My date and I both wanted dessert but we decided it would be best to go elsewhere for that.

My date thinks it's because we were speaking English to them instead of Spanish like everyone else. Even though we are Hispanic but since I thought it was an Italian place I didn't think about speaking Spanish to anyone. She says all the other tables were treated very well because they spoke Spanish.

Also it was NOT busy. I think it was 3 other tables with 2 people eating.

Again, good food but...

I truly wanted to LOVE this place. I read all the great reviews and thought this would be an amazing spot for my son's birthday. First of all, we did not feel very "welcome." We had reservations for 6 for 6pm. When we walked in, nobody greeted us. Finally, we were asked if we had reservations, which I replied yes, and they took us to a double table against the wall, and then they walked away. It was very, very warm, temperature wise, inside the restaurant, which I assumed was because the location is very small with the oven, stove, and everything open into the restaurant. We weren't met with a waiter, bread or a drink order for more than 5 minutes. It wasn't very busy either, so really no excuse to not welcome guests. Our waiter was very short with us and did NOT make us feel like we mattered. Our drinks were not refilled until right before we left the restaurant. The food was "good" but the portions weren't relative to the prices. I do not think we will be back. I saw a different waiter handling a table behind ours, and he seemed very engaged with the patrons. Also, the lack of space inside had us feeling trapped as we tried to leave. They had moved a square table between the table behind us an the giant table that ran the length of the bar, so we couldn't walk through. The giant tables party was also arriving, and the chairs were almost to the bar. We had to squeeze between them to get out. Again, I wanted to love it, but unfortunately, I left...

We are in Florida for Universal but wanted a solid restaurant off property and we found it. I read through several reviews and homemade was used in many of them and that's what we were looking for. :)

It's a relatively small and quaint restaurant with friendly and caring staff and amazing hot and fresh food. Our kiddo said she wasn't hungry so we ordered chicken parmigiana and a small cheese pizza to split. The bread and oil to begin with was awesome! A heavy and flavorful bread that we all loved and our "not hungry child" had at least three pieces. The chicken oarm was as good as it looks, flavorful m, so flavorful with all the right Italian sauces.. we all LOVED it!! Our child ate about 1/3 of that as well :)

I preferred the chicken parm over the pizza but he and the kid preferred the pizza but both were a close call as we loved everything we ate there. Husband had a happy hour glass of Italian wine and loved it... the waiter Quinn was friendly, helpful with ordering and just always there when we needed.. awesome service, thank you!

The owner (i believe) came out and chatted and I love that personal touch. He is excited about his food and you just know it's going to be good.
