Happy Burger Diner — Restaurant in Oakhurst

I am writing this at 2am because I have heart burn and can't sleep. My family is vacationing and stopped in Mariposa before going to Yosemite. We looked for a reasonably priced place to eat and Happy Burger looked pretty good and had a lot of choices on their menu. We stayed at the Quality Inn and they gave us coupons for free ice cream at Happy Burger so we were looking forward to a free dessert, but when we used them they brought the ice cream out first 🤔. Then about 10 minutes later they brought my brother in-laws families dinners, then my families. I had not had a patty melt in quite a while so I was looking forward to enjoying one, but when it came the bread, meat and onions were all burnt (see photos). I have heard stories from disgruntle cooks (not Happy Burger cooks) that can get upset that they have to cook the meal again if it is sent back so I did not want to risk having them spit in my food or worse so I did not complain until we were ready to leave. I know this is a long story, but I felt it would help to know where I was coming from and it is more for the restaurant in hopes they will do better for the next family 🙂. To be fair we arrived late and maybe they were short handed and the manager did offer to compensate me with a free meal or dessert, but I was not in a position to accept it since I was not hungry for anything else and we were leaving in the morning. Again, my hope is that Happy Burger will read this and try to do better. The hamburgers our kids ordered looked good and they enjoyed them, it was just my sandwich, my brother in-laws burrito that were not very good and my wife's taquitos looked and tasted like they were store bought and cooked in a toaster oven. If you’re anywhere close to Mariposa California this is the place to eat. We go out of our way to eat here. The 120 is a shorter distance to Yosemite but we take the 140 just so we can go through Mariposa and eat here. I had BIG BREAKFAST - 15.99 English muffin, 2 eggs, country fried potatoes, corned beef hash Everything was awesome except I didn’t care for the corned beef hash. It was shredded not the normal texture. And I think it was mixed with hashbrowns. I’m not normally a fan of hashbrowns but if these are the hashbrowns they serve, they were excellent. But the country fried potatoes were excellent also. They were just cubes of potatoes with a garlic flavoring. Simple but good. Next time I would order a different protein instead of the corn beef. If you’re a senior, in the morning I believe it’s before 11 AM, you get a free beverage. And also if you’re a senior they will give you a senior discount for your whole party‼️🥰 Everything is fresh, home-cooked, and served with a smile. Very friendly place. Sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for your meal but it’s worth it. Very nice patio out front. Be great to eat out there in a warm spring day. I’m sure during the summer it gets quite warm and in the winter it gets quite wet. We enjoyed our meal and look forward to eating here again soon.

It was the dinner hour, we were so close to home but knew it would be a late night if we went home and cooked. Happy Burger was open, and appeared not busy on this Tuesday evening. We stopped and ordered from their outside walk up window. A very pleasant, knowledgeable employee greeted us, took our order, and even made a great suggestion. We waited in our vehicle, which was not too long. Just long enough to get freshly made food. Our order was delivered to us. We checked the order, and everything was correct , hot, and smelled incredibly delicious. Of course we ate the French fries on the way home, (we couldn't resist) and still had some left when we got home. We had a burger that had three patties and 4 slices of bacon. The patties were 1/2lb's each. The burger was built so high with fresh ingredients, and took a great deal of maneuvering to eat. The breaded mushrooms were juicy, and had a smooth salty nutty mushroom flavor. Their battered fish was fresh and delicate. Happy Burger made that meal the perfect ending to a long day, that could have been longer. We highly recommend the next time your hungry, stop in, take a look at their extensive menu, and not be disappointed....
