Casto Oaks Fine Wine & Art is an exceptional winery nestled in the heart of downtown Mariposa, blending fine wine with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Chris, the owner, is an incredibly lovely lady whose energy is both welcoming and infectious. Her extensive knowledge of the winemaking process and the effects of the local microclimate on their grape production is truly impressive.
Chris's grandson runs the farm, ensuring the highest quality grapes for their wines. Meanwhile, Chris excels at hosting wine tastings, turning each visit into a special occasion. The tastings are fairly priced, offering generous portions and a rich, informative experience. The rustic, mountain town aesthetic of downtown Mariposa adds a calming and comforting charm to Casto Oaks.
We had the pleasure of experiencing a private tasting on a Sunday for our wedding party, and Chris made it unforgettable. The wines were outstanding; the blended red wine was the first I've genuinely enjoyed, and the Cabernet quickly became my favorite, with Jessie's Zin as a close second. Chris's ability to explain the nuances of each wine and the impact of the microclimate on their flavors enhanced the tasting experience.
Chris's hospitality didn't end with the tasting. She went above and beyond by gifting us a bottle to celebrate our marriage, a gesture that added a personal touch to our visit. Her warmth and dedication to her craft are evident in every aspect of the winery.
The ambiance at Casto Oaks is serene, with the downtown Mariposa setting providing a rustic, mountain town feel that makes you want to linger. The art displayed throughout the winery adds an extra layer of charm and sophistication.
We will undoubtedly be ordering these wines again and eagerly anticipate our next visit to Casto Oaks Fine Wine & Art. For anyone seeking excellent wine paired with genuine hospitality, this winery is a must-visit. Chris and her team make you feel like part of the family, ensuring a memorable and...
Read moreSharing about our experience at the Winemaker's Cottage. We arrived during the hottest part of the summer to find that the mini-split does not cool the whole space. The unit is on the far wall of the living room, the furthest from the bedrooms. The bedroom we wanted to sleep in did not get any airflow from the mini-split as it was "around the bend" from it - and the other bedroom, though in line with the unit wasn't much better due to being so far away. On a 100 degree day, the AC was set to 78 upon our arrival, the bedrooms were quite warm and did not cool down until very early the next morning, causing us a sleepless night. Additionally, if you want the bedrooms to even begin to cool off, you have to freeze yourself out in the living room beneath the unit. I recommend future guests look at booking for other seasons, and be forewarned about the summertime cooling...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in after our trip to Yosemite. We were greeted by Kris the owner who let us try the expansive offerings that Casto Oaks has. From the Cab to the Syrah everything was really pleasing. Kris was so wonderful offering plenty of stories of how they make their wine, and other local food options to try out when we are in town.
I would highly recommend stopping by while driving through for visiting Mariposa. Looking forward to returning in the near future. Grabbed a bottle of the Flagship Cabernet that is aging in our basement (aka the wine...
