Cool place to stay during your visit to Yosemite. It's 1 hour by driving to the park, but the road is good and have a great scenery. Mariposa town is a great town, cozy and you'll think you're in a movie.
Mariposa Lodge hotel, is flat hotel with side by side rooms, where you can park you car in front your room. It's not a 5 star hotel, but staff is friendly, maybe a little busy than you expected for this hotel size.
The rooms are big, little old and the common you expect in mountain hotel. Is correct, fair enough for us. In my opinion I will remove the carpet (I'll remove for all the hotels, please. It's gross) Also you have a quite big refrigerator, for a hotel standard, microwave, big TV (55"), table to eat and hot bathroom (please, if you can follow my suggestion... Change those lamps because they generate a lot of useless hot condition).
Negative points to improve:
Due to location is what it is, is super hot room because the sun is loading all the time, all rooms. Improve you AC system, and improve as well cooling in the bathroom (or remove those ball lamps that heat as hell) Remove notes from old Covid rules. We believed that your housekeeping service will not acess to the rooms, so we don't manage well one day and they can't do their job well.
Cool points:
Great an quiet place, plenty of free parking. Cool pool, small bur enough for refreshing The Hummingbirds!! They have in the place outside and are amazing
We've stayed in...
Read moreTo put this succicently, this is definitely a motel. Small pool, smaller hot tub, basic rooms. The place is older and has some very retro architecture. It's affordable, comfortable, and easy to get too (right off the highway, literally). So why do you want to get a room at an "average" place?
This place takes me to the late 90's. The burger joint down the street serves early morning breakfasts under a classic diner sign, and the (terrific) bar down the block delivers pizza until 1am. Yosemite Valley is within spitting distance, the mountains are beautiful, and it's a peaceful mountain valley. He rooms are pretty big, with room for you to haul in your hiking gear and clean it. And it's as cheap as a place significantly worse off in a city.
Don't come here expecting a glitzy, 5-star hotel with hot breakfast and HBO. You talk to an actual clerk at the front desk, pick up your stamped room key, and find your own parking spot. But you step into a piece of American history, not a hokey tourist trap. This place is a memory and a movie all in one, and the attraction isn't on television, but out the window and down the block. Come here to experience Mariposa, not to hide away from it.
All in all it's a quaint, affordable, and thoroughly enjoyable piece of late-century life frozen in time, outside of a world famous natural park. Why aren't you booking...
Read moreA pretty average hotel, mid range price, and great location to all the shops. Still an hour drive to Yosemite Park and the Red Wood Grove, but I was there for a festival going on in town anyway. I had checked in online the day before my arrival, adding a Mastercard to pay for the stay. When I got there at 5:30pm there were two other couples waiting to check in, and a sign on the door saying they would be back in 10 mins. Sure, everyone needs a break, but when both employees come walking back with ice cream, they get an eye roll from me. One person could have gone to get ice cream at peak check in time.... just saying. It was my turn to check in and told that they can't take Mastercard's for the time being, only Visas... I didn't have a visa, but thankfully my friend did. The couple before us also had to scramble to find a different card as well. I was honestly ready to find a different place to stay. But it got figured out and we got our key. This wasn't the greatest first impressions, but we got through it and enjoyed our stay after that.
The rooms were clean, and beds were pretty comfy to sleep in. The only real issue I had with the room was trying to find an outlet to plug in my phone near the bed. Could use some outlets on the lights or something on the...
