We chose that hotel for one night while coming from Bakersfield and heading towards Yosemite Valley. The Mariposa Hotel Inn, a historic facility with just 6 rooms, is really, really old and makes you feel a bit like you are in a Western movie. ||||Mariposa is a really small town with a beautiful main street where also the Mariposa Hotel Inn is located. Plenty of parking spaces are available to the back side. ||||We arrived on a late afternoon, went through the main entrance, up the stairs (there is no elevator!) and were overwhelmed how cozy the place was. ||We were checked in by Sally, an elderly lady with a really good sense of humor. She showed us our room and the breakfast area and gave us all the details we needed to know.||||Our room was to the backside. Due to this and that Mariposa is really small it was absolutely quiet.||It was really clean with a romantic, historic, individual flair. Beds were really soft and comfortable.||Also the bathroom was really clean though it could use some renovation. But absolutely ok for one night.||||The breakfast area was on the patio to the parking lot with many, many hummingbirds flying around. Just beautiful!||Not that beautiful is the breakfast itself (when you are used to European breakfast). Actually it is just some pastries and tea/coffee. Nothing spectacular, absolutely not healthy. Ok for one morning. Positive aspect: They serve on porcellain rather than styrofoam.||||We really enjoyed our stay in that tiny hotel in that tiny city. Actually we would love to come there again - but actually there not so much to do when you plan to visit Yosemite anyway and have no other plans that require you to stay a...
Read moreThe Mariposa Hotel Inn provided a wonderful stay for my long weekend trip to Yosemite. It's less than an hour's drive away from the Park, and located in the heart of Mariposa between restaurants and bars. The Hotel Inn itself is located on the second floor of a historic facade, above a number of small local businesses. I contacted the Innkeeper, Mary, about one month before booking our stay. Because the trip was tentative at that point, Mary was very helpful and held the room for me with a generous cancellation policy. It's so wonderful to find honest, good businesses like the MHI these days.
When we finally arrived, we were super happy with the room's size, convenience, and location. It had everything we needed for a long weekend away. Microwaves and fridges are also included. Outside on the veranda / deck, are tables where guests can relax and eat breakfast while watching many hummingbirds fly around and drink water. It is an amazing & blissful experience.
Continental breakfast is included each morning and includes a healthy serving of muffins, pastries, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, and OJ. We were able to eat our fill each morning to prepare for the day's adventure. We would definitely love to return and stay one day....
Read moreI booked this place only because of the Google reviews.
Unfortunately, this place falls short of its rating.
I'm totally not ok with paying an exorbitant amount of money for a place that was last renovated 50-60(maybe 70?) years ago. This is NOT "cozy" or "historic" or "quaint". This place(I'd never call this a hotel) is extremely dated and run-down. The bed is sloped in a way that your legs are above your head, with a "blanket" made of some synthetic material that will make you sweat no matter the temperature. Behind the building, a parking lot where people will scream/talk/laugh all night. Everything in the room is at least 50 y.o. And this is not a compliment... The bathroom was simply unappealing and in disrepair.
I'd never stay there again.
I'm writing this review only to save someone like me a night of sleep. I understand there are not many options around, but even a tent would work better for me personally.
P. S. For people who wrote how amazing and historic this place is with 5 star reviews: May every one of your travels bless you with...
