Finally Figured Out How to Explore Yosemite: Entrances & Hotels

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay here. We were greeted by Jesus at the front desk who was warm and personable. Although slightly dated in overall appearance, and would not be considered ā€œup scaleā€, our third floor room with exterior entrance completely suited us - and the area. Heads up - there did not appear to be any elevators - access is all by stairs. Bathroom was fresh and all seemed new, with toilet and tub shower in separate room. We did not make use of the pool or spa, but area looked well maintained. . Breakfast was fantastic, with a large comfortable seating area and a wonderful array of hot and cold foods. Great little town, right on the very road that leads into Yosemite National Park. We also loved the little park-like trail that’s hidden off to the side of the hotel. We would definitely make a return visit.

4th day and I'm breaking free from this joint after a 48-hour stint. The front desk old dude here was a total goofball - asked for three bottles of water and he went into comedic overdrive. Gave up when he turned a simple request into the Spanish Inquisition! Kudos to the covert cleaning mastermind who tackled more than just the beds! He saved the day! Give that ninja a cape, a big, fat raise, and a corner office...pronto! We rolled in on Friday, rolled out on Sunday, and I spied a snarky note saying 'Hot food served on weekends only, folks.' Too busy LOLing to snap a pic. So, real food only on weekends, friends? Weekdays are for coffee, Kellogg's, cookies and cream - zzz... 🄱

MILITARY TRAVELING AND STAYING HERE BEWARE!!!!!! WE USED PRICELINE TO BOOK HOTEL ROOM WE SET PRICELINE TO PICK ONE SET WITH OUR PHONES LOCATION AND SOME HOW PRICELINE GAVE US THE BEST WESTERN THAT WAS 45 MINUTES FROM THE LOCATION WHERE WE WERE AT. IT WAS LATE, MY DAUGHTER WAS SICK AND WE WERE NOT DRIVING 45 MINUTES TO GO TO A DIFFERENT BEST WESTERN WHEN WE WERE ALREADY AT ONE. AFTER HOLDING FOR 3 HOURS TO SPEAK WITH PRICELINE THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THEIR ERROR ON BOOKING US IN WRONG LOCATION AND SAID THEY WILL HAVE TO CALL AND GET HOTELS APPROVAL FOR REFUND BUT IT SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM THEY HAVE THIS HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY AND USUALLY THE HOTEL WORKS WITH THEM FINE ON THIS. AFTER TALKING TO THE HOTEL'S MANAGER DILLON PRICELINE SAID THEY BASICALLY BEGGED HIM TO WORK WITH THEM BECAUSE OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND HE REFUSES TO GIVE REFUND. WE THEN CALLED DILLON OURSELVES AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND HE STILL ALSO REFUSED TO GIVE US A REFUND EVEN THOUGH WE PAID TO STAY AT THE BEST WESTERN IN THE THE LOCATION WE WERE SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE THE ROOM IN IN THE FIRST PLACE. HE TOLD TWO DIFFERENT STORIES ON WHY HE WOULD NOT REFUND US. FIRST WAS BECAUSE IF THEY WOULD HAVE KNEW LAST NIGHT WE WERE NOT COMING THEY COULD HAVE FOR SURE SOLD THE ROOM. I THEN TOLD HIM I CALLED AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THE ERROR HAPPENED AND WE WERENT COMING SO THEY KNEW RIGHT AWAY THE ROOM WAS STILL AVAILABLE! HE THEN PROCEEDED TO CHANGE HIS STORY AGAIN AND REFUSED STILL TO GIVE REFUND AND THEN SAID THAT IF I COULD SPEND 3 HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH PRICELINE WE COULD HAVE EASILY DROVE THE 45 MINUTES TO GET TO THEIR HOTEL. I THEN PROCEEDED TO LET HIM KNOW MY DAUGHTER HAD GOTTEN SICK BEFORE ARRIVING AT HOTEL AND ME SETTING MY PHONE DOWN WITH PRICELINE ON HOLD ON SPEAKER DID NOT AFFECT ME TAKING CARE OF MY SICK CHILD BUT DRIVING 45 MORE MINUTES THROUGH ROADS THAT ARE EXTREMELY CURVY DUE TO HILLS AND MOUNTAINS WHEN SHE WAS ALREADY SICK WAS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN AND WOULD HAVE AFFECTED HER CARE!!!!! I DIDNT MAKE THE ERROR TO GET US THE WRONG HOTEL IN THE FIRST PLACE! HE STILL REFUSED REFUND AND WE ARE NOW CHARGED $271.55 FOR 1 NIGHT AT THE BEST WESTERN SINCE WE ARE CHARGED FOR BOTH PLACES!!!

IN RESPONSE TO MANAGERS RESPONSE- AS YOU ALREADY KNOW IVE CONTACTED PRICELINE SEVERAL TIMES & THEY ARE HAPPY TO GIVE US A REFUND BUT BECAUSE THEY ARE WORKING WITH YOU THEY HAVE TO ALSO HAVE YOUR APPROVAL FOR REFUND AND YOU ARE REFUSING TO APPROVE! OBVIOUSLY YOUR HOTEL WORKS TOGETHER WITH PRICELINE AND EVEN WHEN THEY EXPLAINED TO YOU WHAT HAPPENED YOU DONT CARE AND ARE JUST WORRIED ABOUT KEEPING OUR MONEY EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE TOLD THERE WAS AN ERROR In LOCATION AND OF THE OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES NOT ALLOWING US TO DRIVE 45 MINUTES FURTHER. PRICELINE HAS CLEARLY STATED THAT IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WITH OTHER HOTELS THEY WORK WITH THEY CAN USUALLY FIX IT AND HAVE NO PROBLEM GETTING THE HOTEL MANAGERS APPROVAL! THEY'VE SAID THEY CALLED REQUESTING YOUR APPROVAL A COUPLE OF TIMES TODAY SINCE THERE WAS AN ERROR WITH LOCATION AND YOU KEEP REFUSING!

NOW AS I LOOK THROUGH OTHER REVIEWS, I NOTICE SEVERAL COMPLANTS ABOUT THE DISHONEST MANAGEMENT OF THIS HOTEL AND...

I felt compelled to write a review after the experience my family had with a specific staff member. I was traveling with my significant other's family to visit a few different national parks, Yosemite being one of them. My MIL is in a wheelchair and struggles to walk. When we booked the hotel, we requested a handicapped room. She specifically needed that room because of the accessibility features in the bathroom.

When we arrived, an old woman with white hair was checking us in. We asked if the room assigned to us was handicapped, she informed us with an attitude that it was already taken. We were quite frustrated since you would expect a hotel to work around this situation when there is a request for the handicapped room and made comment about how it's going to be difficult for her to wash up and move. They either should've made sure a handicapped room was available by the time we checked in or at the MINIMUM, tell us kindly without the attitude. She, instead, SNAPPED at us saying something along the lines of, "well, I can't just kick them out, can I?" I was completely taken aback by her tone. She looked incredibly annoyed. We asked her if there was at least some sort of stool or chair that they had that could be taken into the shower. The woman just dismisses her question and says there's no chair that she could use. She should not be working in an environment that requires customer interactions if she doesn't know how to behave herself. Absolutely unprofessional. We ended up going to the nearby grocery store to buy a cooler for my MIL to sit on in the shower.

Out of all the hotels I've been to in my life, and even just on this trip alone, I have never dealt with anyone with such a rude personality at the front desk. Until they decide to retrain this woman or get rid of her entirely, I would NOT recommend this hotel. The hotel itself was not nice enough to deal with and accept such a disgusting attitude.

Edit: Maybe it was not made clear, but we clearly BOOKED a handicap room months in advance. The reply claims that it can not be overridden, but I simply do not believe that. With every other hotel we have stayed in, we not only booked a handicap room, but confirmed with the staff checking us in. It was never an issue with any other hotel,...

We chose to stay at the Best Western in Mariposa while visiting Yosemite. It was about a 45 minute, very scenic drive along the Merset River from the El Portal exit at Yosemite. ||Liz at check in was a doll! She recommended two restaurants, a farm to table restaurant & a barbecue restaurant. We tried the barbecue place, Smokin’ Oak. Liz definitely did not steer us wrong! The ribs were AMAZING, so tender, flavorful & full of meat. ||I have been trying to find a new housekeeper but I am particular & haven’t found anyone that cleans as well as I do. I would definitely hire the housekeeping staff from the Best Western Mariposa to clean my house! Our room was immaculate! The tub & tub walls sparkled, the bedding was snowy white, there was no dust on anything, not even the light fixtures or under the air conditioner! My husband & I travel quite a bit & this was one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in. ||The complimentary breakfast the next morning was delicious & the dining room was also spotless! They had real plates, knifes, forks & spoons. We had sausage, biscuits & gravy, eggs & the best hash browns I have ever had on a buffet. I like weak coffee so I was really impressed that the coffee maker had an option for mild, medium or bold coffee with a touch of a button. ||The only negative about our stay is the shower head is fairly low which was a bit of a challenge for my tall husband. It also took a good while for the water to heat up & the water pressure was not very strong. ||Mariposa is an adorable, quant town & I would highly recommend staying at the Best Western...
