Boba Binge Chinatown — Restaurant in Oakland

Pretty good tasting boba from this place. The drinks were sweet and refreshing and flavorful. We ordered the mango fruit smoothie, creme Brule milk tea with boba, Thai tea, and milk tea boba. The mango fruit smoothie had a good fruity mango taste. I think they used Phillipines mango, the small yellow variety, instead of the larger mangoes you see in the super market. The milk tea boba had a good balance of sweetness and the roasted black tea taste. The sweetness did not overwhelm the tea flavor and creaminess of the milk. Same comments for the creme Brule milk tea with cheese froth topping. I didn't taste so much the cheese or creme Brule but maybe it was masked from trying out the other boba drinks. Next time I'll be sure to try that one first before the other drinks. The popcorn chicken was delicious with the fried garlic and basil and seasoning they used. I couldn't get a full picture of the chicken when it arrived cuz everybody dug in really quickly and ate the majority of the chicken. Sorry! I love this new place! It's small but nice staff and clean. I tried Matcha green tea late and some sandwiches. All of them are tasty and fresh. Since my favorit vietnamese sandwich spot in China town was closed permanently during pandemic, I was looking for a good place. Now this is my favorite one! John seems to be the owner or manager. He is very nice guy as well as other staff. When you order some sandwiches online, just be careul not to choose "extra pate" to griled pork, grilled beef, grilled chicken ones. They regularly don't put pate in those sandwiches. But their online order or other delivery companies give you that option with $1.25〜$1.50？. John fixed my order right away. :) I'm happy about it too. If you a big fan of vietnamese sandwich and asian fusion drinks, this place is probably the best bet in midtown and China town area in Oakland. Update2: Their quality came back to normal. ————————— Update: Since they opened a new branch, the taste has significantly changed. In my recent few orders, the boba wasn’t fully cooked. Could it be that the experienced staff is at the second location while new staffs are working here? I wonder if they're cutting costs by using cheaper ingredients.

My favorite Hokkaido milk tea used to have a rich aroma of black tea leaves, showing they used a high-quality tea brand. Now, it's bland and tastes like an ordinary milk tea. It's disappointing that their quality has diminished after expanding their business.
