I first read other rave reviews before deciding to come here, and I think that the taste buds of people of natural Floridians are off. I am from the Chicagoland area and moved here over a year ago and so many, many, many foods and restaurants that people love here are quite strange to me. And I've traveled to 40 of the 50 states as well as 5 other countries so I do not have a limited or biased palate. Not all are bad, but so far the best foods are about equal to being mediocre.
Now I am going to state right off the bat that I do like this place, but harsh criticisms will follow:
First (as in the picture) I had a regular lemonade w/strawberry. I believe technically what I am drinking is sugar-ade with a touch of lemon and strawberry pulp. And looking around the mall I can easily understand why people are so morbidly obese. This drink is an honest dentist's nightmare and a desperate dentist's dream. I diluted it by literally half and it is still strong enough. So the owners can probably save a lot of money simply by reducing the formula safely by half. If/when the ice melts the drink will still be acceptable.
Second, the girl asked me if I wanted fries but I was honestly afraid of the calorie content just by the photo, so I cannot truly judge them on what I do not know. That's on me.
Third, the Philly Cheesesteak itself- I honestly wasn't expecting anything like this. It is like the shredded steak was boil in a vat of butter. The flavor is so excessively rich, one bite and I feel like I am preparing for an Alaskan winter. I've had real Philadelphia Cheesesteaks in Chicago, and Philadelphia, and Ohio and this is just a bastardized fat person's amalgamated, Frankenstein sandwich... But it was edible. So don't get me wrong it is not horrible, just a flavor so scary for anyone who hasn't been born here. Or anyone who is prone to heart attacks. I am used to a clean flavorful steak, where you can taste the juices of the steak. And crisp vegetables where each is popping of their own unique taste. And the cheese to be sharp in taste where blankets the whole arrangement in a comforting blanket of flavor. Some salt, pepper and their natural juices. That is how I've had it in several places all over the country with slight variations of quality but still, each sandwich's meat was clean. As I cannot over stress this meat tastes like it was boiled in butter. The bread roll of this sandwich may taste good, but I don't know? The contents are overpowering. It literally (in the dictionary sense of the word) took me 1 hour to consume 1/3 of the "large" sandwich. I had to stop because if I attempt to eat anymore I will vomit. I did spit out a bunch because it is far too rich and I was starting to gag.
I know there is a Scofield's ranking system of how hot a pepper is. There should be a scale of how rich a food is because this would be up there.
Seriously owners... did you like have a bet with someone to see how far you could take it, because I can assure you if you cut the flavorings of everything (because I am theorizing that I didn't just happen to only order the two most intense items on the menu) and reduce them by half, the fat people might get disappointed but I'm sure you'll be taking a step in the right direction to being less offensive to the palate; you'll save a lot of money. And you will probably prevent a lot of heart attacks and tooth...
Read moreWent to Charley's last night, 1/24/19, and the employees were rude, disrespectful and dirty looking, as usual. The lady making the sandwiches wouldn't take my order and walked away as I was getting ready to order. I asked to speak with a manager, and some toothless crack head looking guy said he was the manager. I asked him if he was ok with the rude lady not taking my order and he said yes, she was being smart. I asked for his name and her name, as he was taking up for her as if he was her knight in shining armor, and he refused to give me their names. I also asked for corporates number and the "manager" also refused to give it to me. My daughter loves this place but after last night, I won't spend another dime at this location. Needless to say, I found corporates number and will be letting them know about my experience here on last night. The service was HORRIBLE and the employees were very unprofessional, DIRTY, rude and...
Read moreHad the nicest service from start to finish! Called to order subs for the office and the gentleman that took the order was so helpful and made sure to get all the details of seven different orders. He was patient with us and repeated all the orders at the end. When we arrived to pick up the orders the lady was so helpful and kind. We wanted to pay for each order separately and she repeated each order and made sure each bill was accurate. She worked quickly and was very pleasant and got us on our way. We were so impressed with their helpful attitude! The subs were great and each order was correct. That is Soo important when ordering for office. (Other places give you attitude when you want to pay separately and they don't pay attention to the details of each order). We were all very pleased with our experience and we'll be sure to...
