2023-12-22: This small park is nestled in a busy area of Ocala, right off a main road. The park is clean, has a paved path, benches, picnic tables, barbecues, bathrooms, and a playground for kids. Today, the playground was very busy and noisy from kids having fun, which is to be expected. On the far end of the park, away from the playground, it was surprisingly peaceful. Even the nearby traffic was barely noticeable. For people who enjoy a short walk in nature, this park is perfect. There weren't any photo opportunities, which is what I crave. Talking to one of the park employees, he said occasionally a pair of Barred Owls can be seen. He also told me about a trail that goes through a small wooded area. I figured since I am already here, I might as well check it out. An old sinkhole. Scott Spring. There are some steps leading down to a nice little dock. I loved it! The sinkhole is only about 100-120 feet wide, and maybe 40 feet across. The water is very clear. I couldn't see any water coming up from a spring, or and water movement indicating a flow. I did see two fish which to me, they look like Pacu. It was...
Read moreThis park is surprisingly large for being right next to one of Ocala's main shopping districts. It is heavily wooded and full of different trails to explore. A short drive into the park leads you to a playground that suits a wide age-range for children, complete with climbing activities, giant bugs to sit on, a merry-go-round, and inclusive swing set. The jungle gym is not as large compared to Tuscawilla. The bathroom is a short walk from the playground but just out of sight, and features two family-sized single restrooms (no changing tables). Several picnic table areas are situated right next to the playground with charcoal grills. It is nice that the playground is far from the main road and is fairly easy to keep track of your kids on. Keep in mind that the playground is not fully enclosed so children can wander off into the woods and many trails nearby. Lots of trees provide natural shade but there is only one shaded pavilion near...
Read moreBeautiful Place for families to come together, picnic tables, For your kids parties, Paths to walk on, benches to sit on to watch birds, squirrels, or just a place to be out in Nature. An area for kids to ride their bike, a cave, some water down by the cave at times. My Granddaughter Dekotah and I wanted a peaceful place to sit and enjoy our subs / chips from Publix, Sunday February 23rd, 2020. So Scott Springs was our place to be. We watched couples strolling the paths holding hands, families strolling from one area to the next. Some people you will find out for their daily walks and there are some exercise tools I believe further down the park. They do have bathrooms, plus there is a Walmart in walking distance of the park, Publix is about a half mile or so down from the park, pizza, wings, many places to grab a bite to eat before you come to the park or for while you are there. So if you are ever in our area come see a great...
