Definitely service went downhill. The reservation was for six adults. I am using a electric scooter due to two broken ankles. Apparently this created the need to place us at a table in the connecting hall between the two large dining rooms. This also set the waitress and hostess attitudes towards the entire party. It was obvious to others in the dining area also. We were not outlandish, we were dressed up, and quiet as a party of six adults.
The waitress wasn't attentive immediately then when she did approach us she failed to offer the specials even when she was asked. We asked again. She then raced through it that no one captured what was said. She was pushing for us to quickly order. We started with the bar order but was told the martini flights were not available. So we ordered water, teas, lemonade, and soda with one mixed drink. Everyone was over 21 and had wanted to order a new drink tasting but decided the waitress attitude just killed the mood. We placed the Appetizers and Soup though we were being pushed for the entrees. We then asked to place the entree order now but we needed time to decide further choices. The Appetizers arrived with 1 soup. Where were the other 5 soups? Well they arrived 45 min later. The entree order had been placed before this but the entrees arrived at the same time as the 5 soups which caused a problem with placing the entree plates. The cleanup of the appetizer plates etc had to be done first then slide the soups to finally get the entrees. At this point the three of us whom ate there before couldn't believe how much downhill the service was let alone the difference in the food presentation. We had two Surf and Turfs, 2 Shrimp and Scallops Risotto, one Fried Shrimps and fries, and one Crab Stuffed Large Shrimps. We had to ask several times to get condiments. Also we weren't served rolls or bread like we had in previous reservations there. The mashed potatoes were dry, the Risotto had way too much lemon that overpowered the meal, the Fried Shrimps were overcooked to the point several Shrimps were burnt, and the entire meal timing was distressing. We waited 20 to 45 minutes when ordered to getting the basic food appetizers. The charm and ambiance were definitely a deal breaker for us by now. The need to search for the waitress was annoying. We do understand the busyness of a restaurant but this was just a waitress not being attentive except to go get cigarette breaks. We waited between the placing of the order, the delivery of the various courses, and even when we asked for the bill.
BTW we also observed the nice elderly black couple whom arrived right behind us being ignored by this same waitress. They didn't even receive the lemon waters they asked for while they reviewed the menu. They waited for the menu then waited even more time to get the basic rolls with no butter. They were smart enough though to get the manager. He left his wife sit while he searched for the manager. It's sad the service was so bad for their first special visit.
I'm appalled how my guests were disappointed by their experience here especially after I raved about how great our previous experience was. I'm appalled that a disabled person has to be set out of sight. I'm upset to have a waitress ignore my food needs for the night. The only way I was able to get an assist to order etc was having my daughter ask. She too was appalled. Oh and she actually presented the bill to my daughter whom the waitress was attentive towards throughout the meal. Her look of surprise and disappointment she showed at this point was amusing.
You can read below my 5 star review from one of our previous reservations. This time I'm only giving one star because of the multiple times our meal was so disrupted and it didn't live up to our expectations from previous gracious dining.
I did leave a 20% tip only because I didn't feel it fair to cheat those support staff that share the tip. We were prepared to give 40%.
Had to erase the previous 5 star review due to space...
Read moreI have eaten here several times over the years and it is one of my favorite dining places in Ocean City, Maryland. For this visit, myself and 13 other birders stopped by in late January for a nice dinner during our overnighter to Ocean City.
The restaurant is located in the Courtyard by Marriott hotel. The restaurant has a bar, large main dining room and it extends back to another large dining area out of view. A piano sits directly ahead of the entrance, but no pianist was playing tonight. I have been here in the past and it is nice to hear the tunes.
Our service and waitstaff team of Anna and Dee-Dee were outstanding tonight. PHENOMENAL. With 14 of us, they split the table into two sides and worked together to provide an outstanding dining experience. We had made a reservation in advance, and they were set up and ready for us. Extremely accomodating, even when we called in earlier in the day and Jennifer added an additional guest to the reservation. All around just an outstanding service experience.
For dinner we all varied in our choices and options from the special fish of the day - Rockfish, to filet and other choices. As I do often when I eat here, I had the filet, mashed potatoes and carrots. The filet was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Carrots were glazed and delicious. Mashed potatoes were light and fluffy. For dessert I had the cobbler which was delicious as well. Others had different desserts, but everyone left satisfied. I am not a huge seafood person, but on many occasions my wife has had the crab cakes here and she loves them. Several of us had drinks as well, myself included, which was a nice glass of Seaglass Sauvignon Blanc. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices.
Coming from the DC area, I thought the prices were reasonable (actually even less) especially for the alcohol, and main entrees.
This isn't the type of place you think of when heading to the beach (pizza, subs, crabs, etc.) but it really is a fantastic restaurant. I try to stop in here when I can. The food is excellent and the service is even better.
I know we are off-season, but the effort that the team went through to make this a really enjoyable experience was greatly appreciated. Thanks Jennifer, Anna...

We have eaten here in the past and the atmosphere was top notch. People were dressed nice and there was an older lady who greeted and seated us. We felt welcomed. Also, the owner personally cooked our steaks and they were beyond perfect. That is why we came back. This time was like a Denny's only priced 3 times as much.
No, I did not want to talk to a manager because I figured it would not do any good. I No, I do not want any kind of compensation. I just wanted you to be aware of your surroundings. I am a retired military veteran and I just wanted to bring this to your attention. Thank you for understanding. Have a good day.
Absolutely horrible! Food was ice cold. Terrible service. Nobody could speak or understand English. Food was disguising and the prime rib was nothing but fat and you couldn't cut it with a knife. It was like Chucky Cheese on steroids with all the kids screaming and running around. Denny's would have been better. I will never go back. Definitely has gone downhill from years ago when the owner actually took pride in his restaurant. I get it. Shove as many through as you can. Take their money and don't look back. What a shame how this restaurant was years ago. But hey word of mouth it won't last long. Do Better. Quality over quantity. It's really not that hard to figure out. Our bill was over 80 dollars, What a...
