First, where do I begin? Well, we decided to go to Coconuts for happy hour. It is well promoted as the fastest happy hour in Ocean City. First I want to talk about the decor of the restaurant. It is next to the beach in between the beach and a motel. Has many palm trees, tiki huts as bars a lot of umbrellas over tables so it’s inviting to the eye. Great prices on drinks during happy hour from 5 to 6 PM. It is buy one get one for many of the drinks, including frozen drinks. When I say buy one get one if you want a rum runner, you get two rum runners for the price of one. You can’t mix and match. So I would definitely give coconuts a better star rating if I just went to happy hour. But I didn’t. We stayed for dinner. Mistake! The service we had was not good. Our waitress was not interested in helping us in anyway. What I mean by that we ordered appetizers and we’re not given small plates since we ordered two appetizers and had six people. When we asked for plates answer, we don’t have any. So we had to use paper napkins in front of us to put our appetizer on including the salsa on top of the napkin. When we received our entrées, the server who brought out our entrées, would not take our empty glasses nor appetizer baskets away she said your waitress will have to do that. One of the people in my party ordered a Caesar salad with jerk chicken. The Caesar salad came in a premade plastic container, as well as a side, plastic container of chicken as if it was already done sitting in the kitchen. The other five entrées we ordered were all just basic nothing special. This is why I gave food two stars and service two stars. Atmosphere got three stars because it is not bad place, but there are better in Ocean City. And to end it off the bathroom situation. To use the restroom you have to go down a hallway , down a creepy stairway Passed an old style buffet that no one was at and into a back room where they sold ice cream where no one else was at. Each one of us in my party went to use the restroom and all had the same feeling when going to the back area. Overall, would I recommend this place? Yes just for happy hour...
Read moreThis place used to be great! Now, it is horrendous. I understand the pandemic has made many situations quite different. However, Coconuts has taken it to the extreme. There is security everywhere, watching your every move. We are older, not a roudy bunch, who just wanted to have a few drinks and listen to some music. Instead, you are faced with so many rules and procedures that is difficult to relax and have a good time. Let me explain...no seats at the bar. So if you get a drink from the bar, you cannot sit at a table. However, we did secure a table after the hostess "checked with her supervisor" and ALLOWED us a table. The tables have umbrellas. Because a few of our guests had the hot sun shining in their eyes, we tilted the umbrella, which made it so much more comfortable. Security immediately came over and moved the tilted umbrella so "they could see us". I had a tab at the bar, which was held with a credit card. I made it clear to the bartender that I wanted to pay cash. I went to the bar to pay cash for my tab. Be aware, I have the total tab pending on my card. So, even if you pay cash, the card you give will be charged, which you will have to wait for it to drop off. When I went to pay my tab, security stopped me, thinking I was getting more drinks. I had to explain that I was paying my tab. You cannot get drinks at the bar if you have a table and you cannot get drinks and sit at a tablet. Rules, rules, rules. We decided we were leaving. It was not fun, enjoyable, or understandable. Before leaving I decided to stop at the rest room. On my way, I was stopped by security and made to go another way. While everyone was waiting for me, security stood there and stared at them. On my way out, I responded to the situation saying "I had no idea you could have a drink and listen to music in prison." We headed up the road to Macky's. We had a great time, so the evening wasn't all bad. My...
Read moreHello my name is Elizabeth, I came here tonight 7/8/19 with my friend and I just wanted to tell you how my experience went. Well first my friend and I had just came from fish tales and decided to try coconuts for the first time. I had my ID to the bouncer and that’s when it all went down hill. He told me that I wasn’t allowed in, which I know that bars have the right to deny whomever they want, I get that. What I don’t get is that the bouncer then wouldn’t get me back my ID after he proceeded to harshly tell me that it was a fake. He then told me and my friend to call the cops, so we did. When the cops showed up the (possible) manager came over with me and talked to the officer with me. The officer then took my ID and went back to her car and came back and said that it was real and that all my information was showing up. She also showed the manager a book of what real IDs look like and told the manager that they should get one. Well turns out that they have the same book that she was using and he still didn’t think it was real. Note, I have not only gone to fish tales but seacrest too so if they never give me any issue I’m not sure why he did. Meanwhile the manager was trying to calm me down and conveniently took the paper back. off of a bracelet, making it so I feel obligated to use their facility. I understand that there are a lot of fake IDs out there and that bars can get in trouble for serving minors but the way that this was handled could have been a lot better. The bouncer never said another word to me. The manager and or manager apologized many times as well as the very nice bartender (Mike.) Moral of the story I did use their facility because I wanted to be the better person and I didn’t want some rude bouncer to ruin me day. Can’t say I’ll...
