So I'd like to preface this by saying I understand The Fractured Prune is a chain and my experience is exclusive to the location on Philadelphia Avenue.
The establishment itself is extremely unkempt and seemingly unsanitary. Build up of dust and debris in all those harder to reach, but easy to notice places. Stains throughout the interior.
Staff were polite and pleasant. Took our order and provided us with a playing card as our order number. Not sure how many previous customers had their hands on my 10 of diamonds.
As I sat waiting roughly 15 mins for the donuts the much anticipated first experience disappeared entirely. I watched two separate staff members wipe their foreheads with their gloved hands and continue working orders casually. At one point I watched an older woman (seemingly the manager) drop a clump of dough on the ground, pick it up with a gloved hand, and go straight back to mixing the dough, no change of glove(s) occurring.
By the time my order was ready I was completely put off and couldn't will myself to eat them. Could they have been delicious, I will never know!
Clearly a situation where they might fare better if people didn't see how the...
Read moreMost of these reviewers nailed this place. Donuts are delish. Just the donuts would make this a 5 star rating. However everything else is kinda off.
Wait is a bit long. Process is super awkward. Place is kinda weird and definitely dirty. I think the open concept does not work here. I didn’t need to see this slow and clunky donut making process. Also, there was plenty of folks working, but the process looked to not be running super efficiently. The older white haired lady does look to be in charge and the young men were just looking to not make her angrier and just do their jobs. I did see her scrolling her phone when I left. Super weird vibe.
They also need sturdier boxes. They are made to order so they are packed pretty hot which doesn’t help with transport or aesthetic.
Drink cases in front with no drinks. Hours are only 8am-12pm. Coffee maker from the 80s. I don’t recall if they actually had any made.
We ordered 10 different donuts, but it is hard to know what any of them are until you taste them. Many of them look the same. They are super delicious, so again, definitely...
Read moreI ordered a Plain Bagel with EXTRA cream cheese and what I got looked like someone scraped off the cream cheese that was originally on it. A faint white cast of cream cheese barely enough to even see. My sister, who ordered a bagel with a normal amount of cream cheese got a plain bagel. She couldn’t see or taste the cream cheese. I understand it is not a bagel shop but this level of cream cheese was just unacceptable. It makes me believe that this location is cheap and not willing to give there customers what they pay for. If you can’t deliver then don’t sell it. The donuts were very sloppy and made in an extremely unhygienic manner. There were splatters of topping and drizzles all over the place and the employees were literally throwing the donuts in the air into the glaze container which had splatters of sauces from around it. There were no napkins in the building and there was no where to sit. The lady taking the order was also very rude and unprofessional. The area also had a bad oder was not a pleasant place to be around. Very poorly maintained and overall a...
