1st time visiting on vacation so we tried local flavors here we dont get at home. I tried the Hot honet Jersey sandwich. The first thing I noticed was it was lacking actual chicken. Their most expensive sandwich I believed would be stuffed, it was but with a lot of greens. I mean a lot. The sesame roll was beyond chewable but i toughed through every bite. It was supposed to have a bunch of spring peppers on it, there were 3 total on both halves. The peppers would have helped a bunch. The hot honey sauce was underwhelming and over all I would rate this sandwich a 6 out of 10. The canolis were described as made fresh to order, this may be true though the actual wrap seemed quite old and crumbled apon touching. The filling looked devine but was a huge disappointment. It was not creamy, it was however grainy and seem unmixed altogether. A tough pill to swallow for such a basic favorite common pastry. The flavor was very plain. Sorry but true. We have had better cheesteaks everywhere. So hard to mess them up but very light on the cheese and underfilled for the roll size here in NJ. The real winner was the chocolate mountain cake which may actually have been store bought. Got an extra slice to go and discussed the meal privately in the car ride home. These conclusions were all agreed by the 3 of us. Not worth a return for food. The staff was excellent and the restaurant was very sharp, clean, and appealing. As some reviews have stated this place is inconsistent. I wouldnt go again. My wife asked me not to do this; I though I had too. I invested hours of time watching and reading food reviews before our trip. Inconsistent can in no way describe the feeling on vacation that lower your expectations when dining out with family. I had to leave this honest review for the next unsuspecting hopeful family on vacation. Over all, this place is a...
Read moreThe food was decent if we had utensils and napkins sent with it. I called to say we had no utensils or napkins. The response to me was,”Well, did you ask for utensils?” “It is going to be at least 35 minutes before you can get utensils.” Ok, hmm, I am vacationing in a hotel and ordered dinner for in my room. The response, “Well, you are in a hotel. Don’t they have utensils you can get?” Ok, hmmm. I paid a decent price for food and the restaurant is telling the consumer that they need to find their own utensils or wait at least 35 more minutes to eat. Shame on the gentleman talking with me and shame on the lack of customer service to rectify the error of sending no utensils or napkins. I said I would try and figure it out. His response, “Ok.” No consideration for the inconvenience or to taking cost off of my bill. Shameful!!
I need to revise my review!!!! The above happened BUT!!! the owner called me that night once she found out about my experience. She was genuinely embarrassed and frustrated because her goal is to be customer focused. She is trying to teach this to her staff. She actually offered a solution to my experience that was very!! generous. The owner is invested in serving good food and offering excellent customer service. I take my hat off to her that she took the time to find out who I was and reached out immediately to deal with the experience. The food was quite good and now I applaud the owner for taking the time to talk to me about...
Read moreWife called and ordered a large 1/2 plain and 1/2 pepperoni, large side salad, and an order of fries. The employee on the phone informed her it would be ready in 20 minutes. I promptly showed up in 18 minutes to pick up our food. The employee at the prep station told me that they were waiting on my pie. No biggie.. I get it.. With only one two top in the dining room and seemingly not an abundance of pies being prepped, it seemed like a relatively slow night. First thing that warrants this review is that employee was eating a pepperoni pizza at the prep station. In my old pizza days, that was a huge no no. Doesn't seem sanitary for someone to shove food in their mouths then handle yours. Next thing that I noticed is that my pizza was just going in the oven at that particular moment. 8 minutes later, I was informed that my pie was done. I paid my bill and drove the 4 minutes home. The wife and I ate the salad, had a few fries then went in for the pizza. As sort of expected with an 8 minute cook time, the pizza dough was basically raw in the middle. Time to fire up the oven and wait another 20 minutes to eat.... update on food. Fries were decent, semi soggy from sitting in a box waiting on the 8 minute pizza, but ok. Salad was as expected.. lettuce, 4 slices of tomato, a few black olive slices... pizza...
