Pizza Tugos — Restaurant in Ocean City

So it's your last night at the beach. Staying at the Holiday Inn. Already had plenty of seafood. Husband wants pizza. Delivered, because you've already walked six miles or so up and down the boardwalk for the day. Go online to look at options and there are a few nearby who deliver. But the more you read reviews the more confused you become and honestly a bit worried. Seems like all the places have some really negative reviews, but what was the deciding factor for us was the owner's responses to those reviews here at Tugos. It was so clear to us that this is an owner who cares passionately about his business and is giving it absolutely everything through some incredibly difficult times. As a customer, imho, you can't ask for more. Although his sense of humor is an added bonus. (and no we don't know him, we literally were in Ocean City for the first time in our lives for just three nights this September).

So I called around 5:30 on this Sunday night. We saw that the pizzas come in only two sizes, and having read how "small" they were, we opted for the larger of the two...the "extra large" pepperoni. (16 inches) Gal was friendly on the phone. Took a credit card, asked for our room number and told us it would be 30 to 45 minutes. Cool, take your time. Around 35 minutes later, there was a knock on our fourth floor room and a friendly appropriately-masked guy delivered our piping hot pizza. Crust is nice and thin and foldable, with lots of gooey stringy cheese, covered in pepperoni (we blotted some of the grease). Sauce ample and tasty. Nice pizza. Very rich! I could only do two pieces myself. We would have been perfectly fine with the smaller one for the two of us.

I tried Pizza Tugo in OCMD for the first time today. I had seen their name quite a bit over the years. They were as fast as the cartoon delivery people and extremely friendly and professional. I ordered a large cheese pizza and a Philly cheesesteak hoagie. They said my order would be delivered within an hour, but it was more like 15 minutes even though they were 17 streets from my hotel. I have never had that fast of delivery ever and especially not at 5:00 at a resort!

I feel bad for saying this because everyone was so great, but the pizza was WAY too salty for me personally, maybe because of too much Parmesan cheese and hardly any sauce. However, if thats the way they make their pizza, that's their right! The crust was cracker thin and crispy, which I like, but also a little salty for my personal taste. I LOVE pizza and could have it for ever meal and am a retired Accountant, so that was the first time in my entire life that I had one piece of pizza and discarded the rest.

The Philly cheesesteak hoagie was PACKED with meat and only $7.99, but it also was a little salty for me and the flavors didn't really mesh, possibly due to my selection of toppings. I order pizza there constantly as a resident. I will not anymore. Their pricing for pizza is so random and im finally sick and tired of it. Its like the cashier makes commission the more they charge. Lol This time I paid for a medium pizza with 3 toppings and was charged $25.50 for just a medium pizza that wasn't even that big. Never have i been charged a price by any pizza establishment like this. Add further insult, the pizza man told me to pay cash when he came to deliver the pizza, which I had to convince him that I paid with credit card over the phone when I ordered. After telling him two times I paid, he left and didn't even call or verify that I did. I've had this problem several times and not sure why they tell me I didn't pay when I already did. What if a friend answered the door and didn't know I paid for the pizza and then we paid twice? Its a shame that I will not order pizza any longer from them. Will go to miones or papa johns.
