response to owner...... Well Joe. I think as many pizza's that get ordered daily in OC ..... that as soon as they tossed them in the box it would have been QUITE OBVIOUS the way it fit ,that it barely squeaked out as a medium... much less a large. I'd also like to point out that the timeframe seriously was off for me getting FRESH, made to order pizza. From the time I clicked ORDER online... it was minutes later that it was saying the pizza was picked up and on the way. Please explain how your store can grab up the order, roll and toss the dough, shape it, add toppings, slide it in the oven, wait for it to cook, grab it out of the oven, box it, get it ready for driver, driver arrive, driver grab and package the order, start driving to my home so fast. I got a notice and the driver is actually already driving it to me where I can watch the tracker....within a short amount of minutes . The math is looking crazy for FRESH made pizza. I was hopeful you guys were just Superhero pizza people or something, But I guess not. ................................................................................................... Original review-Not sure how everyone but me got great pizza. First off I ordered 2 , 16" pizzas just to try out the place first before diving in with a huge order. They were not even close to 16" so right there I'm wondering is this a one off,or what they do to everyone all the time since BOTH my pizzas were smaller. The crust was so flat and like eating a sticky wet noodle, and then with minutes of cooling ...was teeth pulling tough. Note my tape measure wasn't even flattened ...had it been flat and straight they would have measured...
Read moreOur experience with Pope's Pizza this weekend was quite mixed. I’ll start by saying that I was pleasantly surprised by the pizza itself. It was hot, the ingredients tasted fresh, I loved the soft crust, and I enjoyed the toppings.
Of note: I’m not sure if this is customary, but they charged full price for toppings we got on only half of the pizza. This came out to $10 for one meat and two veggie toppings on HALF of a 16-inch pizza, which seemed a bit excessive. Additionally, one of the toppings we ordered was sausage, but they mistakenly put pepperoni on instead. It wasn’t the end of the world—I get it, mistakes happen. But what bothered me is that when I told them I didn’t have time to wait for a remake, they made no attempt to make it right (discount, credit for a future purchase, comped side, etc.). I don’t think this is good business practice.
Final note about the pizza: as silly as this sounds, it was sliced very poorly! One slice was enormous, while another was less than half the size of a regular slice. This discrepancy is far from ideal when sharing a pie with friends.
We also ordered a chicken parm sub, and it was terribly disappointing. Not only was it basically all bread, but the little chicken/cheese/sauce in there tasted like it had been frozen and microwaved. The contents were dried out, lukewarm, and—frankly—didn’t taste good. The worst part is that this wasn’t an $8 sub—we paid $20 for this atrocity! While I may consider getting pizza again in the future, I would never order another sub from this place, nor would I recommend anyone waste their...
Read morePlaced an order online, for 1 medium pepperoni pizza, at 6:37 pm, with a pickup time of 7:27pm. I arrived at 7:28pm, only to be told that they were behind, and it would be an ADDITIONAL 20 minute wait. We chose to wait inside, and tried striking up a conversation with one of the employees.. she clearly had no interest in that whatsoever. The lobby area was clean, and roomy enough for several people to stand (everyone was being told that their order was delayed), so we chatted amongst the other customers. Finally, our pizza was ready, so we took it, and headed home. It was rather greasy, so I soaked up some with a napkin, before starting to eat. The pizza was incredibly "tough" and was very "chewy" which we didn't care for. It was basically void of any pizza sauce, and lacked in taste. We'd had high hopes, as it's very reasonably priced for pizza, but it wasn't good. I had the option to review our order through my e-receipt, which I did. I indicated the issues, which are the same things posted here. I never received a response from anyone at Pope's, which saddens me. This was our first visit, but will likely be our last, as I can't give this 2 thumbs up, and feel good about it. I rated this an overall of 2 stars, because the order was correct, and the wait area...
