Made a last minute decision to drive out to Ocean City. Googled for seafood restaurants but didn't find anything that caught my eyes. Yelped for a seafood restaurant and found this place called the Belly Busters. Sure there were other fancier places but they looked more like bar/fusion restaurant. We wanted more of a seafood specialty place locals go to and decided to try out this place based on the yelp reviews and pics. First of all, love the name, Belly Busters :). We arrived at around 12:00 and ended up staying next 2.5 hours trying out their onion rings, blackened rockfish tacos, clam strip platter, 2 pounds of steamed shrimp and a dozen of extra large steamed crabs. And they didn't disappoint! Our server, Katie I think was her name, was super friendly and gave us great recommendations on local microbrew beers and food. Be warned that they don’t skimp out on their version of old bay seasoning on the steamed crabs and shrimps and we LOVED it. Shrimps were juicy and tasty and the crabs were meaty. All males though. Next time, I will ask for female crabs maybe. We wobbled out of there with our bellies so full (hence the name Belly Busters?) and needed to take a walk afterwards, although it was so windy and chilly that we had to cut our short walk even shorter. Belly Busters, we will be back next time we stop by O.C.

During our visit to Ocean City, we found Belly Busters to be the nearest open restaurant to our accommodations at 9 pm on a stormy night. I had a strong craving for fried oysters, and I was fortunate to find them on their menu. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and the interior had a welcoming and cozy ambiance. Upon entering, their staff warmly greeted us, seated us, and engaged in a pleasant conversation when they learned we were not locals and that it was my first time in Ocean City. The service was efficient and attentive. We ordered the seafood platter, Conch Fritters, and Fried Oysters. Of the three dishes, I found the Fried Oysters to be the most satisfying, which is what I had come for in the first place. However, the food fell short in some aspects; it was overcooked, dry, and had an excessive amount of batter. The Conch Fritters seemed to be more of fillers, lacking substantial conch pieces, and the sauces were somewhat bland. Considering the quality of the food, I would say that the prices were somewhat on the higher side. In fairness, we visited late at night during a storm, which may have affected the food quality. Nevertheless, I must commend them for their good service.

We were greeted and given menus when we arrived. The bartender / server told us to sit wherever we'd like and someone would be right with us. We sat for 10 mins before anyone even acknowledged us and we were sitting right next to the door that leads to coastal highway. I have been a server for 21 years so I understand being busy but I have NEVER let a customer sit for longer than two minutes without saying, "Hey guys! I'll be right with you!!" It doesn't take much to use your words while passing a table on your way in or out of a door that they are sitting right next to! If that wasn't bad enough, the food was horrible. We ordered a half pound of steamed shrimp and a half pound of snow crab legs. The snow crab legs tasted like perfume. Weird. And the shrimp could not even be peeled. I would have informed my server of this had she visited our table to see if everything is ok (a 3 word sentence..."How is everything?") or asked us on her way out the door to the serve the customers sitting on the patio. I had to wait for her to look at me across the room to mouth to her "We're ready for the check". She dropped it off at the table and never looked back. It's a good thing I had cash on me because if I had to wait any longer for her to run a credit card, I would have been spreaking with her manager instead of writing this review. I have NEVER left a bad review in my life! I work in this industry and understand the stressors of being a server. However, I have never had a server treat me or my guests as if he/she was not working for tips. You know what makes me a good server? I treat EVERY table as if it were MY family sitting there.... Even the stereotypes (and every server reading this knows what I mean) and trust me, MOST of them tip me 20% or more because I don't treat them as such! I am appalled. I took my 7 year old there to enjoy good food and good service like I remembered they had 10 years ago. The server would never even know that I was dissatisfied because she still got a 20% tip. That's what horrible servers get from me. Good servers get 30% and great severs get 35-40% Even servers have bad days, we're all human but this server had no business working in this field or in customer service period! And I just found out that they automatically include 15% gratuity on your check! Don't you think she should have told me that? Especially when I handed her $40 and told her to keep the change?? I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because this is my industry but I can't bring myself to give anymore than that! I give great reviews for great servers and good establishments. I do not leave a review at all if I have a poor experience. That goes to show how horrible this experience was! I'll never go back...

When we first arrived the tables were not clean. Some of the seats still had crumbs from the last customers. The waitress was polite but very slow and did not visit the table very often to see if we needed anything. I ordered an Italian sub, my wife and daughter ordered a cheeseburger. When the order came out they did not bring a cheeseburger for my wife and my sub had no lettuce and tomato. In my home town lettuce and tomato are automatic unless you say NO lettuce and Tomato. It's an Italian sub, come on, get it together. They finally brought out a cheeseburger for my wife after about 15 min. and both my wife's cheeseburger and my Daughters cheeseburger were the frozen patties that you can buy bulk at the store. Worse burgers that School or Hospitals if you know what I mean. Really thin burger on a huge bun. All bread and no meat and the meat tasted like processed beef. My Italian Sub was on a store bought bun, Not made fresh, and the lunch meat I could have went to the deli at the grocery store and made my own sub. Not what I expected and definitely not Italian. Just like a plain sub you can make yourself for way cheaper. Not a happy camper. would not eat here again. I did not try the seafood but from what I hear and read its also not up to par. However the waitress did redeem herself and gave my wife her cheeseburger for free. I can't complain about that. But if I go someplace out to eat I want to food to be fresh and good. Not processed beef or store bought buns and sub rolls. I want a nice fresh Italian sub made with a homemade bread Roll and its not that hard to use the same dough to make a hamburger bun and toss them in the oven for 15 min. Even if you server the burger on a store bought bun at least make a fresh hamburger, Not Frozen, and make it big enough to fit the size of the bun. I would guess the burgers were not even one eighth pound. For those of you that don't know math that would be smaller than half of a quarter pounder at McDonalds. In any case, I guess if your starving it might be ok but the prices still need to be lowered to match the poor quality of food. I would say this place is not much better than going to the grocery store and purchasing your own frozen foods and making them yourself. One last thing. They had really loud Mexican or Spanish music playing. Like a Mariachi Band kind of music. Not bad at first but it gets on your nerves after the first two or three songs because they all sound the same and they are blasting them too loud. I felt like I should have been in a Mexican Restaurant not a sandwich and seafood place. Please get rid of the music or play something top 40 and please lower the volume so...

I would not recommend this place if you don’t want crab. It is very basic bar food outside of the seafood. It was very busy and highly recommended, so I was a bit shocked by the food. We went here because my sons wanted to try crabs and they had a lot of options for non-seafooders. The crabs came quick, but looking back we should have done the snow crab legs instead of whole crabs. It was a ton of work for tiny bits of meat 😂. We ended up giving 4 of our 6 crabs to the table next door since the boys didn’t like them. If you like crabs, a bunch of people were getting them so this seems like a very good place to go. The other food however was blah. The kids liked the mozzarella sticks and my daughter enjoyed her Cesar salad. The burger was nothing to write home about (be aware they do thin patties). My sons grilled cheese was visibly burnt on the outside and my French dip was burnt on the inside of the roll. The roast beef was good but the charred pieces of roll totally took away from the meal. We ordered onion rings but never got them so cannot comment on that. The food came out way after the crabs. At one point, I thought they forgot about our meals. Once we started eating we needed a few things (dressings, refills) but never bothered asking because the waitress was literally running all over the place… she was a blur running by. They absolutely need more help for a busy Saturday night. The waitress apologized multiple times for the delay and food. She even gave us a discount so we never mentioned the missing onion rings. Take out might be a better option for this place or come during quiet times. There were so many people standing right by us while eating to get takeout so that was a bit annoying. It is a real small place , kinda dumpy and in lieu of napkins you get a paper towel roll in a bucket with your ketchup and shakers. The bottom of the buckets on our tables were wet so the paper towel rolls were all wet at the bottom. I have no idea what the wet was so didn’t want to use them. Just not what I expect for a $100 meal. I do want to say the waitress was super sweet and such a hard worker. She showed us how to open the crabs which was really helpful. Although we did not have great service it was not for lack of her trying. They just need...
