The food was good but not 5 star worthy (like the Hobbit). Some observations: Service: It was spotty for fine dining. Menus sat on table forever after we ordered. Getting more water was a difficult task. Took forever for waiter to confirm they didn’t have the wine we wanted. For management: There were so many people standing around — why wasn’t one assigned to clearing dishes from tables and filling water? Our server was ok, but just really seemed unsure at every step of the night and seemed to favor another table.
Food: Our 4 top had the crab cake, seafood risotto, strip steak and pork chop. Everything was good but the risotto and steak were too salty (but still delicious). The steak had no char on it, barely had grill marks. FYI: anything with shrimp is served as a prawn (the head still on, gross) unless you ask otherwise. They accommodated our request perfectly. Is the crab cake one cake or two? Almost seemed like it was one divided into two — but the menu said crab cake, not crab cakes (which is it?!?)
Starters: Coco bread and burrata. The bread was amazing. But, why pay 7 dollars for bread, which is something most restaurants just give you for free.
Dessert: The star!!! Had lemon bar and chocolate torte. Both were amazing!!!
Booking: I think they are playing games to make it appear that it’s booked all the time. When we searched for the reservation there was no availability for two solid weeks. On resy we clicked notify me if tables open. The day before we got an email saying there were openings — but the openings were for every booking time slot. How is that possible? When we got there for our 845 reservation, there were only a handful of tables even seated. Weird.
I would go and try it. Hopefully they work out the kinks for more continuity in...
Read moreNot terribly impressed by Secret's attempts at fine dining. They are pretty much riding on the atmosphere and the atmosphere absolutely makes up for a lot. But it feels like what is missing is an attention to detail. When you are paying $50-$60 a plate this is when detail starts to matter. The service was only par, took a while for the waitress to show up and check back on us. When they put the food in a to go container they put it on the lid side with the vent hours. The sauce leaked out of the container and everywhere transporting it home.
The menu was meh. Nothing really popped out as exciting or different its the same fare that can be gotten at many places around Ocean City. I ended up settling on a Steak because of that.
They did over cook my steak twice, which I'm not dinging them on as they really went above and beyond trying to fix it and saves them on service.
All of this really just added up to an lack luster experience, kind of meh night. I wouldn't say its not worth the $75 -$100 per dinner price tag that comes with it.
I'd recommend stopping by and getting a cocktail (which was very good) for some ambience and heading somewhere else for...
Read moreI almost don't want to review this place so that I can keep some secrets to myself and have a few special places that only I know about. But when a place gets everything right and makes you feel like you are at a 5 star White Lotus style dining experience you have to give it praise. The ambience from the bay water view, the lighting, and the table layout makes you feel like you are on a paradise island. The service was inviting and knowledgeable, and the food matched if not exceeded the service and ambiance.
The clam and garlic appetizer was cooked just right and tasted as described.
I had the red snapper as a main entree. This is a goto fish that I've ordered time and time again at other places. It's very common in the Caribbean, Jamaica and in South American counties like Colombia. So I was blown away that in all my travels this crispy delite was by far one of the tastiest versions of the traditional dish. Crispy, light and perfectly seasoned.
Lastly I had the Strawberry Tiramisu. The fresh strawberries paired with a creamy filling was a unique and delicious take on a dessert classic that had me...
