Smoker's BBQ Pit — Restaurant in Ocean City

Smoker's BBQ Pit is our FAVORITE place to eat when we come to Ocean City. We have made trips to OC from Baltimore simply because we craved it. If their 5 food wasn't 5 stars, their service 5 stars, and atmosphere 5 stars, it wouldn't be our favorite place! I don't think we've ever been there and haven't been part of a steady stream of customers constantly coming through. We knew we weren't the only ones who found this hidden gem on our first stop there, a few years ago, when we noticed the customers never stopped, while trying the food for the first time and falling in love. They offer very fast service for the amount of customers they serve! A massive variety of food with a unique level of quality that a lot of places do not have. They offer an area with picnic tables in a covered area that's like a huge porch - you're protected from the elements, sun, rain, etc. Smoker's is definitely the place to go if you love this type of food; pit beef, pit turkey, ribs, burgers, chicken, cream of crab soup (my husband's favorite!), even chips and queso (one of my favs!) I am a griller/smoker and I LOVE real pit BBQ. When I see a sign for a BBQ place that says "Pit" I have to try. Unfortunately, Smoker's BBQ Pit was a big disappointment.

I stopped to get a pound or 2 of pull pork BBQ and 2 lbs of brisket. During the ordering process, I discovered you can not buy Brisket that is not soaked in their BBQ sauce?!! WHAT?!! When the Brisket or pulled pork for that matter, are really good, you won't want sauce on it. In this case I could not even buy it without their sauce on it. I don't think I have ever seen that before in a "Pit" BBQ place. I cancelled the Brisket and got a pound of pulled pork BBQ because they have North Carolina vinegar based sauce (that is can already soaked in).

What I got was really poor. It was like something you would buy in a grocery store off a shelf. I'd have to say it was terrible. The others in my party tried it and they completely agreed. I ended up throwing it away because it was not something I would want to eat.

Do yourself a favor, if you like REAL Pit BBQ, find another place.

I hope this reaches the owner, or management. I have been coming to this establishment for over 15 years, my family has been coming here well over 20 years. This has always been my favorite place to eat from New York to Florida they have the best smoked meats, bbq sauce and sides. I am not sure what I was served 09/02/2024 at 4pm, the chicken has no color, was pale, white even and honestly was the biggest disappointment. The bbq sauce is by far my most favorite thing, there was something wrong with it it was chunky, I stirred it and heated it up and it looked like stirred jello and did not taste as it should. I am so disappointed I have been coming here for so long, we refer to Smokers as Genie’s after the owner we would talk to every visit years ago. And it’s not only the food, it’s the staff as well. We asked for extra sauce and were told that they can only provide 2 extras as there were 3 in the bag. There were none in the bag, our $75 family meal deal in total had 2 sauces that were the consistency of stirred up jello. I am so disappointed I would give a 1 star review, but I am hoping...
