My husband and I âdiscoveredâ Solstice Grill for our anniversary, off-season in April. At that time, we were impressed with the food, the service, and the value. We started going twice a month and brought our grown son and his girlfriend, and again, the food was good. This time, the service was just okay, as there was a new waiter who didnât know the menu or the beer list. The bartender, with her hands full, told us the drinks list and delivered us our cocktails. Still, we all enjoyed the fried shrimp, salmon, chicken, and steak. The restaurant went off the rails on our next visit, when we brought a party of six for dinner.
Firstly, the waitress refused to move tables to allow us to sit together AND WE WERE THE ONLY CUSTOMERS! Luckily, the bartender interceded and moved a duece next to a four top for us. The waitress was slow and delivered the drinks one at a time. When the dinners arrived, even though there was room for her to serve each guest from behind or on either side, she stood at the top of the table, calling out the meals, and had everyone pass the plates down each side. By this time, we were laughing at how ridiculous this was. She was a portly woman of about 45-50, but again, by this time, we were one of two tables so this didnât save her time or endear us to her. I was embarrassed we had brought guests as, at this visit, the food was mediocre at best. Overall, itâs a gamble now if you go. Like Forest Gumpâs box of chocolates, you never know what youâre...
Read moreIâm a little perplexed at the good reviews for this place. I donât normally do reviews, and if I do itâs for positive experiences but I felt compelled because this was so comically bad. First, we arrived and sat at the bar, where the bartender was on her phone for quite a while and didnât greet us for a good 10 minutes. Other patrons were trying to tell her she had new customers but she wasnât paying attention. She then greeted and took a drink order for a guest that came after us - no problem, at least sheâs noticed new guests, and then promptly forgets sheâs taken her order and does other things. We finally order drinks and our meal, mine was grilled salmon and husband got the chicken entree. Husbands was fine - for a $16 entree downtown with an ocean view you really canât beat that. I got grilled salmon which was okay too, but the side salad that came with it had rotten lettuce, the charred broccoli side was just that - raw and thrown on a grill quickly to char but still raw (and cold) on my plate. Oh, I forgot to mention our side salads were delivered AFTER the mains so that was strange. Overall, the view is great, the prices are more than fair but the service and food itself need some help. Fine for going for a quick (I use the term quick loosely here) cocktail with a lovely view, but...
Read moreFor the budget friendly people, the price here is cheaper than it is on the boardwalk and the local area for a Hilton Hotel, I am really?
The service is good and you'll get the royalty feel at a hotel restaurant, it is naturally going to be better than the local area in terms of service and timing, because everyone in the OC is actually nice, so kindness rating doesn't matter.
Cheesesteak ($14): It comes with fries, the fries is absolutely awesome, its the type that has that extra batter/flour on it to give you that extra crisp, syper recommend the fries if your a fry lover. The cheesesteak was awesome becuase there is a lot of meat stuffed into it, very satisfying, the bread was alright, but overall very good and cheaper than the other local cheesesteaks, I passed by a $16 one and a $19 one on the boardwalk and it isnt worth it, plus there is no fries with it. Its good cheesesteak here at the Hilton
Crab Bites: ($16): Really good balls of carb, nice snack portion if you don't want the $38 crab cake meal. I can say it tasted like crab, perfectly...
