This is the 2nd pizza restaurant I have tried in Ocean Shores and I can say Dugans is 10x better than the factory place with the buffet. Tonight is mothers day and I wanted to get dinner for my mother and I but not many options open this late or that will deliver.
Easy to order online and navigate the menu, you can do 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas and specialty pizzas or make your own. They also have pastas, salads, desserts and more. I decided to try the dugans special since it has pretty much all of my favorites on it. We got the family size 16 inch pizza which I will say is a little pricey at $30. Add in the automatic delivery fee, tax and tip and you are over $45 for delivery for just one pizza. I got the pizza ordered and within a couple of minutes they called me to confirm since I made a mistake and started out as making a half and half but then only selected the one choice. I got the confirm and they said delivery within the hour. I think it only took like 20 minutes to arrive. I assume they were a little slower at 7:30pm on a Sunday rainy night.
Pizza arrived and it looks great, the delivery driver did not seem the most enthused but I would probably not be either delivering at night in the rain. I took the pizza in and opened it up to be pleasantly surprised that it was one of the best looking delivered pizzas in a very long time. The 16 inch pizza is a decent size for at least my family of myself and all girls. I would order this one again for my daughters and I. The dugans pizza comes with salami, pepperoni and its the mini ones, plus olives and mushroom, and according to the menu its been the favorite since 1982. I think one more thing that would really crank up this pizza would be some banana peppers and some jalapenos. They put a decent amount of toppings on the pizza compared to some places and the flavor was pretty good. Everyone enjoyed the taste of it, i also ordered 2 sides of ranch, they are small dip cups but the ranch is very good here. The ranch cups are 50 cents each as of this review. They did also include both parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes packets with the order.
All in all I would eat here again, I do find it to be a bit expensive but this is a...
Read moreTheir slogan is "One Bite and We Gotcha!" You bet. They got us to never return after the first bite. 1 waiter & 2 waitresses with only a handful of tables, yet we waited 20 minutes for them to clear a table (3 tables were empty but not cleared when we arrived). Ordered a 12" pizza, but got and paid for a 16" pizza. Didn't complain because we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for the correct order. Refilled one beverage at the END of our meal with the wrong soda (didn't ask them to fix the mistake because it would have taken at least 15 minutes to just make eye contact with one of the 3 wait staff, which was confirmed when we tried to get our bill). Didn't bother to, or even offer to refill the other beverage. Brought the salad with the pizza...would have been nice to get the salad earlier after being there for over an hour waiting, waiting, waiting. Watched our waiter go from waiting tables to making food in the back without washing his hands. Watched a couple try and try and try to get their food within their lifetime (they left very displeased after they FINALLY ate). Watched waiter and waitress play 'catch the drinking cups' with cups that would later be given to people to drink from. Watched another family with two small children attempt to keep them occupied and happy while they waited and waited and waited for their food. Only two other tables were occupied. Yes, that's five tables occupied, 3 waitstaff and TERRIBLE service. Watched waitstaff visiting with each other while we waited for our bill. To make a bad experience even more retched, the pizza crust was worse than cook-at-home frozen pizza crust. It was utterly tasteless and extremely dry. Our pizza was under-cooked...the cheese wasn't even completely melted for crying out loud. Don't bother eating here. There's great pizza a few blocks north of this place with one waitress that gives fast service yet has many more tables to wait on. We foolishly tried this place because their exterior signage claims they have the best pizza in Ocean Shores since 1982. Tourists who don't know any better must be keeping this...
Read moreEXCELLENT pizza and pasta - even my notoriously picky daughter emphatically stated that it was really, really good. Excellent hand-made, hand-tossed crust, delicious toppings, and not too greasy despite the enormous amount of salami and pepperoni we piled onto our pizza.
Seating is a little limited, especially on busy nights when they have large parties - so be a little patient and understanding. Remember - it's beach time here, so take a breath - watch some of the sports showing on the TVs around the dining area, browse the shirts, play a video game, whatever - but the wait is well worth it.
I found the staff to be courteous and accommodating - they were a little short-handed for the amount of folks in the dining room, but the lady who seemed to be running the place was quick to make sure everyone was taken care of graciously and with a friendly demeanor. I see other reviews on here that comment about the staff being surly - and I can only imagine that the patrons leaving these reviews were likely overly demanding, impatient and generally tools who would've been better served at a Godfather's Pizza or some other chain pizza-factory type place.
The large party behind us ordered their famous 26" pizza - and lemme tell ya - it looked like it was closer to 36" - I kid you not, 3 FEET in diameter. Watching the chef toss the enormous crust prior to baking it was awe-striking enough, but when it came out fully topped and ready to eat - it was a literal monstrosity of pizza debauchery. And for $64 - it fed the small army that ordered it, even leaving a good portion of leftovers. It looked amazing.
Anyway - 5 stars all the way. Great food, great service. You won't...
