This old fashioned breakfast location was just that...old fashioned. We were told it was the best place to go for breakfast...it was not! It was "good"...but left me little to write ✍ home about...or even post. Other than being seated...the service was less than personal. You are simply seated...and after that, you have to fend for yourself. You look over the menu...and thenbhavebto go to the counter to place your order. There you will get a number...and then they will bring it to your table. You even have to get up a fetch your own cup of coffee ☕!!! There is no service walking around refilling your cup...and they could not even put salt & pepper at each of the tables. NO! Again...you had to get up & get it yourself...and then it was the little paper packets of S&P! And then...we get to the food... Again, nothing to write home about. Yes, it was good...it was breakfast...but nothing special. Maybe my expectations were too high going there...but all of know those old fashioned breakfast diners where you get a breakfast you cannot get even at you Mom's house...this just was not it! The home fried potatoes were bland...and lacked "love" when preparing. Is this a place I would recommend? Sure...if you were hungry, and simply did not want to look elsewhere. Would I say "this is a breakfast you can't miss"...absolutely NOT. If you are hungry...eat here, but I would look elsewhere if you really want to eat good! (There are better places to eat breakfast in Ocean Shores...you just need to look 👀😉👍 Happy hunting...and Bon Appetit! PS...You can definitely make a better Surfer 🏄♂️ Burrito at home...you just need to make it with a little "love" and it will be better! Not worth the...
Read moreOur Place is a no-frills breakfast diner. It felt like a stop for locals in this tourist town and I can appreciate it for it's simplicity despite the almost fast-food nature of the restaurant.
Starting with the service, the staff was universally friendly. Despite it being clear we were tourists, we were greeted warmly, asked some pleasant chit-chat about our trip and stay so far, and then served in a no-nonsense style that made it clear this wasn't a spot to linger so much as to eat and get to work.
The decor inside was simple - if cramped - and served its purpose while the "nicer" benches outside loaded up with tourists nattering back and forth.
Like any great breakfast joint, the food came out relatively quickly, properly made, and bald of frou-frou decorations. The quality of the ingredients was unimpressive, but I wasn't expecting breakfast at the Ritz.
The white gravy was smooth and had no lumps, the sausage was probably Jimmy Dean, the biscuits were fresh, the eggs made properly to order, and "fancier" fare like French toast still had a straightforward look and taste.
I would definitely go back to Our Place. It's the sort of restaurant that reminds me that you don't need all the bells and whistles to knock out some good food at a reasonable price for large crowds of people with...
Read moreIn Ocean Shores first the first time and this place looked really good online so we decided to try it. Mixed feelings. The customer service was great, seems like a couple owns it and they were super nice, we took our food to go because.... coronavirus. Although at this point they are open for dine in again at reduced capacity. Two adults and one kid so we had the Denver/Meat Lover’s omelette’s and a Belgian Waffle for our kid. The omelette’s are AMAZING. The “Fried Potatoes” not so much. I’m someone who grew up making home fries with my dad and we ate here two days in a row and I could tell the first morning that the potatoes had been reheated from the day before. Gross. Then we ate here again this morning and again the omelette’s and waffles were SO GOOD but while the potatoes tasted fresh today they were still just simply not good. Looks like they parboil their potatoes and then sear off in a pan which can either come out amazing being cooked uncut on the outside and mashed soft on the inside or they come out like these which tastes like someone boiled potatoes for mashing with dinner and then just plated them as breakfast. Literally no seasoning or flavor. Overall I’d recommend this place for sure but just sans potatoes. Will definitely be having their omelet again next trip...
