I’ve actually been meaning to leave this review for a while because this has become one of our go-to spots. We love being a part of the weekend energy, but when the crowds start picking up and things feel a little too busy, this is where we like to step away and slow things down without leaving downtown altogether.
We always sit somewhere in the bar area, either right at the bar top or in the back corner at the high-top tables. That corner has kind of become our favorite over time. It is tucked away just enough to feel cozy, but still part of the atmosphere. The vibe feels a little like a New Orleans piano bar without the live music. Just a comfortable energy that makes you want to sit and stay a while.
We have always loved that the menu changes regularly. It keeps things fresh without feeling overdone. Whether we stop in after lunch or come for dinner, the food is always good and the service is always attentive and personable. What really stood out to us today was watching Gavin behind the bar. We weren’t even part of the conversation, but we watched him take the time to explain the process of making a Vesper martini for other guests near us. You could tell he genuinely cared about making it a great experience for them. His energy was kind, personable, and really added something special to the atmosphere. It reminded me why we keep coming back. It is not just the food or the drinks, it is how this place makes you feel when you are here.
If you are looking for somewhere with good food, a great atmosphere, and people who genuinely care about the experience they are creating, this is it. We will definitely be continuing...
Read moreMade a reservation for 7:15pm. We were running 10 mins late but they were able to hold the table for us. The interior was dark and moody, yet very welcoming. Perfect for a date night. Service was very prompt despite the busy Friday night. Started off with the raw oysters. Slightly briny. I wish they have mignonette sauce to accompany it. Second course was the cajun scallops. Scallops were cooked perfectly. The smokiness from the bacon and the freshness from the corn really elevated the dish. the grits added a depth of texture too. i had the choux maque agnolotti as my main course. It came with royal reds which was perfectly seasoned as to not mask the sweetness of the shrimp. the blistered tomatoes added sweetness and a hint of acid. my partner had the black grouper. i took a bite of the fish and it was very tender and flaky. For dessert, we made a last minute decision to get the key lime cannoli and boy, it didn't disappoint! what a brilliant move to add the crushed graham and key lime zest only on the outside so it didn't overpower the lightness of the filling. and the cannoli shell was freshly fried as well! joey b. was our waiter and he did a really good job on answering our questions. i love the idea of farm to table and an ever evolving menu to promote sustainability and support local farmers. Evergreen has earned a spot on our must eat at restaurants in gulf coast. We will definitely be back. Thanks for making date night...
Read moreFound this walking downtown OS. Sat at table in the bar and watched college basketball with soft jazz playing in the background. Classy but not stuffy. Great lighting but still soft atmosphere. Started with the Rillons. INCREDIBLE!!! I could have stopped here. If more than two of you order an additional plate. One plate is plenty for 2-3 but you will want more. Has to be the best single dish I’ve ever had at a restaurant. RILLONS!! Don’t miss it. My entree was the Short Rib over grits. Great dish. I was full from the Rillons (AWESOME) and I still ate every bite. Dish was completely clean. Very tender and no wasted fat. Grits were perfect consistency. Will try the filet next time but always starting with the Rillons. Entire staff was nice and service was timely. Young servers so not great details on questions about the menu or just feedback/conversation in general but often that’s preferred by customers so not a big deal. Highly recommend as a must...
