STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Wow. I almost don’t have words to describe the level of disrespect, rudeness, and a completely unprofessional situation. I’ve been a loyal patron of this place for a long time. I’ve usually had great service and good food. Unfortunately, my entire view of this restaurant has changed since this weekend. We ordered pick up - we ordered it online bc we needed to pay ahead of time (our friends were picking it up for us). I would have loved to order directly from the restaurant, but their website doesn’t have a way to do that. After placing the order, I called about the spice level. I have chronic Lyme disease and spice make me extremely sick unfortunately. I’m also a vegetarian. So I called to make sure that the two vegetarian entrees were very low spice level. They confirmed that they would make sure this a happened. We got the food and the vegetarian entrees we’re at least a 7 on the spice level, making them completely inedible for me.
Bummer, I thought, but I’ve had really good interactions with this place so I’m sure if I call them they’ll make it right and give us a replacement for the two dishes that were wrong and inedible. BOY was I wrong. They had me talk first to two separate employees who couldn’t do anything - I had to reexplain the situation every time. And then finally talked to someone in the kitchen who also made me explain the entire situation to again. He said no refunds bc we ordered through door dash - I said that’s fine, but I’d like for you to make it right by letting us come in to pick up two replacement entrees that are prepared correctly. This man was hostile, rude, began screaming at me that he couldn’t afford to give away “free” food to everyone. I’m absolutely blown away and saddened beyond belief. This man was absolutely awful but kept yelling “we just want to make the customer happy!” Fully deranged. Do NOT EAT HERE.
Also, I’ve been looking at other reviews where this exact same thing happened. What the actual heck. It costs them all of maybe $5 max an entree to replace their mistake and keep customers coming back. We will most certainly it be coming back and I will be telling everyone I know to stay the heck away from this restaurant and is incredibly rude and hostile service. I don’t know if the manager changed in the last couple months but WOW.
Save yourself the trouble of a yelling match with a power tripping kitchen employee who refuses to correct his...
Read moreWe are Oceanside locals and have been patiently waiting for a Himalayan restaurant to open in our town.
They've only been open for 6 days but they've left a great impression on us. The service was fantastic and the food was full of spices and flavors which are hard to find around here.
We ordered a goat curry (not pictured), garlic Naan, butter Naan, Chicken Momo, and Lamb Sekuwa, a himilayan specialty.
My wife asked for the goat curry to be spicy and she was not disappointed. She told me when she's craving goat curry this will be her new go-to place. The spices inside the curry was a perfect blend. Sometimes when ordering curries it tastes like it was just the curry powder. Not this place. You can tell some love was put into it.
I ordered the lamb. I believe it had been marinating due to the skewer holes gone right through the middle along with the intense flavors for such an unassuming piece of meat. I loved it and so did my daughter. It was cooked perfectly; not overcooked or undercooked. The slightly caramelized bed of onions it was sitting on had such epic flavors which embodied the entire plate. I added a squirt of lemon which came with the plate and it definitely set it over the top in the best way possible.
My wife and I shared a plate of chicken momo, a favorite of ours when going to Himalayan food. There was a home made sauce in the middle which went great with it. It was so delicious we put it on our Naan bread too! We asked for some of the sauce to go because of how delicious and unique it was.
The two Naan breads were standard for Naan we've had in the past. Tasty and meant to compliment the main courses.
We got to meet the head cheff and, I am assuming, owner. He was very friendly and we learned he has been cooking professionally for over two decades. You can definitely tell because each dish was plated beautifully and the flavors were epic.
We are happy this place opened up in Oceanside and I hope it gets more customers as word grows. They deserve it.
The prices are very pre-inflation.
Once Oceaside approves their beer and wine license, we will definitely be regulars here. Nothing beats a Taj Mahal beer with...
Read moreLove the food. Never had a bad experience until today when they were trying to get me to wait an extra 30 minutes just for naan. They didn’t tell me their naan oven wasn’t working when I ordered. Really poor communication between the kitchen and the man who was taking my order. Then when I asked for the rest of my food and a refund for the naan he just stood there arguing with me how my food was almost done they just didn’t have the naan. I said yes, I understand but I have to leave to go back to work. And I told him if the naan oven wasn’t working I would have just not ordered my food at all and gone back at a later time when the oven was working. At this point he still hadn’t given me my food so I told him to refund the whole order if he wasn’t going to give me the food that was ready. He said he couldn’t do that, so I told him ok, then refund the naan and give me my order right now please. He then proceeded to tell me that my refund may take a few days?? I told him I wanted I receipt confirming the refund. I now have two charges on my card, one with naan and one without. I tried calling and asked to speak to a manger but the rude incompetent worker was the one who answered the phone and claimed he was the manager. He then proceeded to argue with me over the entire situation. I honestly love their food but after this experience, if I see that worker again I will immediately walk out. Very sad considering the dozens of other times I have been here it...
